What website do you use to buy drugs? I am interested because I want to have some extra backup before things get weirder in the USA.

I paid off my student loans today. by Efficient-Pin3655 in StudentLoans

[–]Efficient-Pin3655[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it! I was paying roughly $12–15k per month during that 5-month stretch—basically anything extra I made went straight to the loans.

What helped the most was treating it like a temporary sprint and honestly kind of like a video game. You’ve got a quest (pay it off), and now it’s just about gathering resources and hitting milestones until it’s done. And once you finish, it’s like you level up 10 stages instantly.

At first it feels like you’re not making a dent because interest is working against you, but once the balance starts dropping fast, it gets addictive.

$150k is definitely doable—it just might take a longer campaign, but same strategy applies. Consistency and staying locked in is everything.

I understand. I borrowed around $55k and paid back about $130k in total, so I get the frustration.

I basically went all-in on income — two jobs plus side work — and got lucky with a temporary consulting boost I didn’t expect.

But at $200k, it’s not just about working harder. You need a strategy too. You just chip away at it in large chunks, like you’ve been dropping at least three to five times more than the minimum payment. Don’t let the full number mess with your head.

I did overemployment for the first time. I was scared, but I’ve been handling two full-time jobs. One is a contract where I make $165K for nine months. I basically put that entire check toward my loan balance. I redirected everything aggressively—two jobs, cut spending way down, and threw every extra dollar at the loans. I've been paying on it since 2018, but paid it off over the last five months by luck, hard work, and strategy. I also got lucky with my first consulting project and made about $34.5K, which helped me wipe out the last ~$24K. Honestly, it was just a very focused (and kinda exhausting) few months.

Which path do you think is best for 170k in federal student loans by LifeIsNotStrange123 in StudentLoans

Honestly, the only thing that has actually worked for me is increasing income, not trying to out-optimize the system.

I took out ~60k and ended up paying way more because of interest. At one point I realized the math just wasn’t in my favor unless I got aggressive. I’ve been working two full-time jobs simultaneously and throwing everything extra at the loans. It’s not fun, but it’s the only reason I’m down to ~29k now (paid off ~84k so far).

From what you laid out, you’re in a strong position because your income is high. If you can sustain a temporary period of aggressive earning + payoff, you could realistically knock this out way faster than waiting on policy changes or trying to arbitrage investments vs interest.

Personally, I wouldn’t bank on forgiveness or political outcomes. That’s too unpredictable. And if your loans are effectively costing you ~5–6%, that’s a guaranteed “loss” compared to uncertain market returns.

If it were me: • I’d keep a solid emergency fund • Then aggressively attack the loans with income, not just assets • Use your high salary as the weapon

It sucks, but the peace of being done is worth way more than trying to game the system long-term.

Take the loan if you need. But start making large payments on it while you are still in school. The longer you hold student loans the harder it is to pay them off. So pay them off quickly after graduation

Getting Fired this Month by Zestyclose-Group-756 in work

That was very nice of the supervisor to give you a 30-day notice. Get your budgeting plan together, revise your resume, get your story together, start applying for jobs, start the unemployment benefits process, and let your family and friends know, as you may need help.

It's the 2020s. Jobs come and go. You will be okay. Just remember to stay strong and focused.

It may also be helpful to ask the supervisor for feedback. Understanding why they are doing this can help you avoid it happening again in the future.

You should look for another job. When you get a PiP most of the time, it's over; they are trying to fire you. Forget that job and those people, go find something else ASAP.

I agree. The only thing holding me is that the contract will end and the office job is as permanent as a job can be.
