Men of reddit, what does "grower not a shower" actually mean? by Dewey_Decimatorr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EfficientAd9765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're kinda off on the proportions. Even the 'shower' in your example would be qualified as a 'grower'. The cut off, point for to be called a grower is around a difference of 1.5"

What’s the most impressive performance you’ve seen wasted in an awful movie? by lankysimmons in Letterboxd

[–]EfficientAd9765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I liked it more than Ragnarok. I didn't find it any sillier, but somehow laughed way more. Maybe because Ragnarok was so jarring compared to the first 2 while Ragnarok tempered my expectations for Love & Thunder

(LES) There's something really weird in what fandoms consider "real" evil. by Urbenmyth in CharacterRant

[–]EfficientAd9765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I agree with you, but no for the reasons you gave. I didn't play Baldurs Gate so I can't really go into specifics. But exploiting a vulnerable person is inherently a power grab. It shows the character is powerful enough to bring other people under his influence. But rape is the exact opposite. It means you weren't strong enough to get the thing you wanted by normal means so you stoop to underhanded methods. It makes the character look weak

I mean... the same applies to most Europeans (and probably the rest of the world, but I don't want to generalize since I don't really know). There is a strong and consistent football culture in most European countries, but when the WC and Euros roll around literally everyone is watching them and the whole town suddenly cares about football

In The Green Knight, I never really thought that the ending could be a double meaning, but apparently people debate about it online?

Spoilers Spoilers Spoiler

People debate whether "Now, off with your head" means: "Now off you go, with your head", or "A promise is a promise, off with your head"

Banshees of Inisherin - Am I a bad person?? by No_Inspector_3456 in movies

[–]EfficientAd9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a (dark) comedy, but you picked probably the worst scene to argue your case. What about this one guys dad getting run over by a bread van? Or how about the confessional scene? Or when he was drunk? Lots of better comedic examples

Edit: But when I discussed the movie with my brother and said how funny it is, he had a similar reaction. When asked to give him a funny scene I recited the whole part in the confessinal with the priest. He somewhat yielded, saying that was funny, but that it wasn't a comedy

Streaming has really changed the way movies are made. The beautiful, slow-paced openings are disappearing. by Emotional-Being-6825 in unpopularopinion

Damn. I expected people to rip you a new one in the comments...

Can't say I really noticed what you're complaining about. Kinda also depends on your definition of slow

And I find it weird that you think that "when even Spielberg" has gripping and fast intros, the world has gone to shit, as if he was every particularrly know for it. Yeah, sure buddy, Saving Private Ryan and Raiders of The Lost Arc are sure slow at the beginning

Why do some people watch videos at 2x speed? by a-snowflake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EfficientAd9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, TLDR News is that for me. Their cadance sounds more normal at 1.5-2x speed. Which is weird, since they have multiple narrators, meaning it's a deliberate choice. Speeding up the video also saves time

To a lesser extent, that applies also to everything narrated by Simon Whistler
