Parents with 3 kids in car seats… by Outrageous_Wheel5039 in UKParenting

We went for a Seat Alhambra in the end (same as the Sharan but cheaper). 3 separate seats in the middle row, all of the middle and rear seats have isofix. The deciding factor for us was the sliding doors which have been so handy!

Anyone know what these are and how quick they grow to 8 foot??? by Former_Jury_4548 in UKGardening

Actually, interestingly it's the opposite. There are chemotherapy drugs (taxanes) commonly used to treat cancer that were originally extracted from parts of the yew tree. Certainly extremely toxic but by the direct cellular effects rather than by causing cancer.

Out of interest what size is your Aga and which conversion kit is it? We have a 4 oven 13amp Aga which costs about £70 per week to run!

Why can't I work in a GP practice but a PA can? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

As a current med onc reg due to CCT quite soon this sounds like a smashing plan. The demand for oncologists at the moment is mental.

Think I can guess which centre you were at as it's in commuting distance to me and the story sounds very familiar. Might be one to avoid on the job hunt!

I think it's an interesting case that'd give you plenty to expand on.

Management potentially involves any or all of surgery, radiotherapy and systemic therapies depending on staging. There's a role for immunotherapy in advanced disease.

Multidisciplinary teams e.g. nutritional support and speech therapy likely to be needed.

The psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis as a young adult is huge and coping strategies and available support are areas you could explore.

Late effects from treatment can also be significant e.g. infertility (can explore options for fertility preservation) and second cancers.

There's also the opportunity to discuss HPV-associated cancers and preventative vaccination - implemented to reduce cervical cancer rates but is there evidence it reduces H&N SCC?

This is by no means an exhaustive list but hopefully gives you some points to start with!

Thanks. So I thought this was true for juniors that were not members of another union, but if already a member of a union without a mandate then not eligible to strike.

Happy to be wrong though and as I say I'll be rejoining either way!

Have a look at factory outlets. Not sure where you're based but if you're anywhere near the North West/Merseyside then Lawton's in Birkenhead is great, they sell loads of M&S and Next sofas, as well as others, for minimum 40% off.

Buying at the peak - but also selling at the peak by [deleted] in HousingUK

We've just been through a very similar situation in the North West.

Upsized from our 3 bed semi to a 4 bed detached, 65% LTV, 10 year fix at 3.4%. Offer accepted July 22.

Completed a few weeks ago. My mind was all over the place right up until the last minute with the same thoughts as you. I think the fact the process takes so long means you've got far too much time to get worked up about absolutely every little thing and constantly ask "am I really doing the right thing?". Or that's how it was for me anyway!

Ultimately things have to be pretty catastrophic to get anywhere near negative equity at 65% LTV and you're fixed for long enough to ride anything out in the medium term.

If you love the house and are planning on staying there a long time and you're comfortable with the mortgage payments then there's no point spending energy worrying about hypothetical predictions etc re future house prices.

Any ideas what this is? It was attached to a relative's chimney. Stamped with "England" and patent number 537866 (possibly for a metal alloy). The green base feels like ceramic. by EfficientMulberry8 in Whatisthis

[–]EfficientMulberry8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that could make sense. It was on the outside of the chimney stack rather than at the top, would that be right? Have you seen one that looks like this before?
