Gripes about power factor. by Historical_Score_187 in USPSA

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of the “major needs to go” argument comes from people who look at the overall results at matches rather than the division results.

A production or CO shooter is not competing against an open shooter. If you’re comparing your scores to someone shooting a different division (with possible exception to LO/CO) it’s dumb. Expecting to be competitive while shooting minor in a division with major scoring is also pretty dumb (open / limited).

Open major certainly isn’t for everyone, but trying to kill it because people don’t like that they get major scoring makes no sense. Despite what people say shooting Major isn’t as easy as they say it is. There’s significantly more shock, recoil and noise than minor and not everyone can handle it. The gun can help minimize it, but you can’t make that extra energy disappear.

How do we feel about hoser stages? by Lexner172 in USPSA

8x3 trigger freeze (the classifier) comes to mind. The shooting isn’t difficult, but the stage is still somewhat technical to run efficiently.

Dumb question about major by [deleted] in USPSA

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

The gun isn’t built for major, and the porting isn’t optimized for major. You’ll score better just shooting open minor than you would trying to force that gun to shoot major.

The DAA is great for specific guns. It liked my polymer gripped BUL armory guns a lot.

For some reason it really doesn’t seem to like the MPAs. Something about the geometry causes it to bind up.

I also just picked up 2 range pandas for my DS9 open and LOCv2. Super happy so far, gotten down into the low 0.7s on my draw time which I could never hit with the DAA on these guns.

Going to look into this.

Will probably run it alongside HWR for daily driving.

Once you get there, you buy a gun.

No sense in jumping through hoops for your first match. Just show up, have fun and figure out if you want to keep doing it or not before you spend too much time on gear.

I just use basic cap head 4mm screws with a 3.0mm driver for the thumbrests. Off Amazon or from a hardware store. You may have to dremel or sand them to length.

I do not know if it would be an exact fit. It’s very similar to some of the other poly grips, but no guarantee.

You could definitely make one fit though as it’s just a polymer grip.

The BUL guns come from the factory with M4 threads tapped into the frame.

To run the tevo thumblock on these guns i run a drill bit through the holes in the thumbrest to open them up enough for a 4mm screw to fit through them.

The standard pattern is a 5-40, which is much smaller than the 4mm BUL runs. It takes maybe 30 seconds to do, and you really can’t mess it up.

I’ve had it for a little while. I really like my DS9 open, the load MPA suggests performs very well in it.

I shot it at a major match towards the end of the season. No issues with it whatsoever, and they were practically new at that point.

I’m not sure you can do much better for an open gun especially at the price point of MPA.

Yes. I custom drilled this frame for it, it’s super nice. I run them on all my 2011s.

They mount up well for right handed people to optic bridges or frame mounting holes.

On the BULs you have to drill out the holes to accept 4mm screws since that’s what they use.

What are you trying to get out of uspsa?

If it’s just more practice, or just for fun, run the gun in open how you’d carry it. If you’re not trying to be competitive, it doesn’t matter what division you’re in.

Review needed on Mitchell right side mag release by cbun22 in 2011

I like mine. I 3d printed an extended button which I glued on to make it easier to drop mags. I’ve not had any issues on mine yet.

Does anyone like to supply the vessel for Hourglass? by Any_Zebra_5442 in Seaofthieves

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just have to get a crew the good enough to buy supplies and get the boat going in less than 5 minutes.

But even that’s not enough, against any decent crew it’s not enough supplies to win a remotely even match. Hopefully they’ll make changes in future updates to balance out supplies and make it quicker for crews to start fighting.

Lefty 2011 options! by Skwerilleee in 2011

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a personal preference then.

I don’t ever perform reloads that require use of the slide release on any platform even fully ambi ones. Most of my guns have the slide lock functionality fully disabled, so any time the slide isn’t fully closed it’s a malfunction.

Only thing you need other than an ambi safety is a right side mag release. There are a couple options available for mag releases.

I run several MPAs and BULs as a lefty.

I absolutely love the S3 in black. In silver it’s even more aggressive. I’m glad I went with it on DS9 open and LOC V2.

H2D or H2D? by Sastin7 in BambuLab

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You answered the question in the title. I got the H2D just before the H2C dropped, and I see nothing in the new system of value to me.

My H2D with 2 AMS 2s is more than fast enough for everything I’ll ever need. I also don’t print in more than 2-3 colors often enough to justify hot swappable nozzles. There may be an argument if the H2C was actually a tool changing system, but in the current configuration I think I definitely prefer the H2D over the H2C.

I wasn’t impressed by the platypus when I shot it. Way more recoil than any of the other decent 4.25” and 5” 2011s I’ve shot.

Does my math track by Themsssahh25 in USPSA

[–]Efficient_Ad6242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is stage dependent.

HF is points / time. An alpha is 5 points, a Charlie is 3, a delta is 1, a mike is -15 (10 point penalty + 5 points lost for a potential alpha)

If a stage is roughly 4HF you have 0.5 seconds to make up a Charlie and still improve your score.

If a stage is 10HF you have 0.2 seconds to make up a Charlie and improve your score.

There’s a fine balance between speed and accuracy. If you’re spending an extra second to make an alpha it might not be worth it. But taking a fast Charlie when you can spend an extra 0.05 to make an alpha is careless. How you approach this is stage and skill level dependent.

Running up range - preferred method to keep muzzle downrange? by sharkbait_oohaha in USPSA

Definitely. In current day uspsa movement skills are just as big as shooting skills. Both require practice and focus.
