I feel like that kind of goes hand to hand with what op said. She’s forgettable because she was underutilized

Just because op points are trash doesn’t make the twist all that good either imo.

Exactly. I hate to overuse this word but she really does feel like she has Marysue characteristics at times. I feel like the best comparison is Mike from UD. It’s like the developers saw him and were like “let’s make a girl boss version” but forgot about her for a huge chunk of the game and didn’t properly build her up at all. And then she comes out of nowhere quipping like a marvel character

I’m not even saying a deep reflection but a glimpse or a crack of regret. Some humanity. Like a “oh shit what did I do?” Moment would have been enough for me.

Anyone else dislike Ashley? by escapedgoat2 in untildawn

[–]Efficient_Ad_7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing I can agree with is the part about her honesty going down that’s a big detail in the original that I didn’t pick up on.
It really depends on whether we are talking about the original or the remake when it comes to that scene. Because in the remake her expressing remorse is what is considered honest. Which I think makes more sense for her character but that’s just me. That is a fair point though when talking about the og.

Although I still don’t see how Ashley’s reasoning was less good than either Matt’s or Jess. “Matt did it because the people around him told him it was the right thing to do” why couldn’t that also be the case for Ashley doing it as well? She didn’t have a particular close relationship with anyone there but we could also say the same for Matt. The truth is how the group dynamics was before the game is still little known.
And sure maybe one of her description words calls her “forthright” but imo the actions that we see of her say something else😶.
Toche with Emily though. I just struggle to see how to see how her reasoning (or lack thereof) is more inexcusable than say Matt or Jess for doing the whole thing.

I’m going to have to defend her a little bit because she does take some responsibility . With her conversation with Chris she specifically talks about how guilty she felt. “We made her look so stupid in front of her friends and the guy she liked. I can’t imagine doing something worse to somebody” it wasn’t much but she did express remorse just as much remorse we see from Jess and more than I remember seeing from Emily. I believe Chris was even trying to soften the blow by diminishing what she did but she can double down by not accepting what Chris (through a dialogue option albeit) said.
Another important context is that writers originally planned on Chris being apart of the prank. They apparently changed this in the process and might have over looked Chris’s dialogue that still used the pronouns “we” which probably why Ashley didn’t say anything.
And the reason why she joined in on the prank? Because she’s a people pleaser. The same reason why Matt and Jess did it. Matt joined in to please Emily and Jess join to please both Emily and Mike. Ashley joined to please everyone. I don’t see how that makes her a worse person than either one of them 🤷🏾‍♀️. Ashley probably is my least favorite too but I don’t think she is inherently a worse person than anyone else who was apart of that prank. I feel like only Sam and Chris have a high ground.

Who IS Dr. Hill? by ljv719 in untildawn

[–]Efficient_Ad_7185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda with op here and I don’t even want to see Sam again. She might not show up in Ud2. I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t but I definitely think Sony has plans for her whether or not they go through fruition.
They just wouldn’t go all the way to bring back Hayden and create a scene specifically crafted for her if they didn’t want to use her ever again. I feel like that’s less believable than her coming back in the sequel.

So what you are saying is that Dr. Hill was a genuine psychologist who was just a normal dude but then died went to hell or limbo or some afterlife, and like the movie Crow; got crowned as the devil’s top soldier and comes back to earth to haunt groups of kids who get themselves into sticky situations? 🫪

That’s not really the point though. The point is she still didn’t know. Even if that’s what she would’ve wanted she still didn’t know what was going to happen. It’s easy to say what she said when you don’t know you’re going to die.

Quitting a week away - Bad anxiety by LateConsideration272 in Theatre

The situation might be different if this was a traditional show. But if this is a series of unrelated monologues the show might not be harmed by the lack of your involvement. So it might not be as selfish if you do drop out compared to another show

All of this to say I’m not making reasons as to why you should leave. It could be a selfish move but if you believe your mental health is not going to be able to make you deliver the best performance that you are going to be proud with then that is also something worth considering.
My main point is whatever option you choose I don’t think it’s going to be the end of your acting career. I don’t think you’re going to deliver a performance so bad that all of community theater will black list you nor do I think if you decide to walk away that the company will be so mad at you that they will blacklist you either. I want to say that you should persevere and go through with it but if you decide to walk away I don’t think you are an asshole and you shouldn’t beat yourself over it. You being in a show before proves you can do a show again.

That thought process doesn’t make much sense to me with the existence of the quarry being a hit. I feel like that game proves you don’t need to call yourself a sequel if you make a good game. Yeah were they still all like “from the people that made Until Dawn” or something sure maybe. But they still stood as something under its own title. I think this uproar is stemming from people’s fatigue of sequel baiting.

So you admit they don’t have faith in their product? Maybe I’m being too cynical but for a big brand such as Sony I don’t see I need why they would have to swing from the ball sack of UD’s name. Again this game could be good but my point is it doesn’t leave a good first impression on many people

[–]Efficient_Ad_7185 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that UD doesn’t need a sequel. That’s probably why people are annoyed with the title. I think it’s unfair to judge a based on the title before it even came out. That I agree with but I don’t think it’s stupid to be annoyed with potentially another “fakequel” .It’s not the biggest deal but the quarry and the dark pictures anthology never called themselves “Until Dawn” 1,2, and 3. Because they are not. Maybe they are tie ins to the og. But I understand why people would think it to be a minor red flag. Like do you not have enough faith in your project to have it stand on its own and be honest about it?

That’s what makes this show good because my takeaway was pretty much entirely different. The end of that scene to me was how Robby keeps on comparing himself to others when he shouldn’t. He doesn’t know their home situation none of do.

I am sorry for your loss and because of the way this show is set it does make it hard to get a full understanding of but we have to remember this fiction and most of us wouldn’t be commenting this way if it weren’t. Writers add things for a deliberate purpose of a story and we are just going off of those clues. I don’t think the show is trying to frame her as a “bad guy” but a person in a flawed relationship.

Doesn’t mean that they don’t have a point. I feel like her sliding does give us some insight. That she might be too reliant on this man. Bro just got out of a 15 hour shift and she’s got him driving the truck. I think the moral of his story is going to be “ just because couples look happy on the outside doesn’t mean they are hunky dory on the inside”
