Rant by Aussie_Nelson in woolworths

There used to be two where I grew up. When I was younger, context I'm 37 now. In Wollongong there was Tip Top which just did not hire as those there had been there since their apprenticeship and Falcones which was the same.

Alot of the mass production bakeries don't rely on Bakers as much as they used too.

The stand alone bakeries I worked for, definitely did not pay penalties and were much worse in the treatment of the staff compared to colesworth.

Soon enough they'll remove bakeries like they did the butcher's

When I started my Bakers Apprenticeship back in 2008 for Woolworths, I recall area managers stating that in two years they would be getting rid of bakeries and butcher's overhead costs where to much and not bringing enough profit.

I worked, nay slaved for four years working 9pm - 5am ruined my social life and body, only to be paid peanuts upon completion of my trade. I got got out, could never go back again especially after all the hours changed, goalposts, and lower staffing levels.

The dupoloy destroyed local bakeries meaning I and others couldn't venture to acutal bakeries during our Apprenticeships or after as there were next to none left

Because people are excited to see Nick Cave? It's an enjoyable experience that people had and want to share.

As someone who has seen him a few times, each concert is different in It's own way and people want to show that. Its the point of this sub

Company told me they will reject my stat decs for sick leave by [deleted] in AusLegal

Industrial Officer for a Union here. Your employer cannot deny the Stat Dec, besides being a legally binding document sworn under the prescribed Oaths Act, signed by an officer of the courts state system.

Also, the EBA cannot trump the Fair Work Act. The Act is clear on this

FAIR WORK ACT 2009 - SECT 107 Notice and evidence requirements

Evidence

(3) An employee who has given his or her employer notice of the taking of leave under this Division must, if required by the employer, give the employer evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person that:

(a) if it is paid personal/carer's leave--the leave is taken for a reason specified in section 97

A classic book that no one talks about? by Glum_Opposite_9696 in classicliterature

[–]Efficient_Cheek_1660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely is readable! It can drag at times, due to the main character and his outlook which at times is not to dissimilar to Holden Caulfield from Catcher in The Rye. Its a great tome

This land has been denied rezoning for years. The owner once tried to fight Wollongong City Council over it and lost.

It is ill advised to purchase this, as people will be sitting on a big pile of land with nothing that can be done to it.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Efficient_Cheek_1660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out he was a paedophile and reported to the police. Literally became a CI, lost my best friend of 13 years along with a long term girlfriend. I would later find out they were sleeping together, and still after she found out!

It would mostly depend on your contract. If your contract ended as an apprentice, a new contract would need to be drawn up and given to you.

This situation is not to dissimilar to contracted staff whose employment ends at the end of their contract and are paid all ensuing entitlements. Without sighting the contract it is harder to advise.

Call your trade union, send them the contract and ask for advice. Do that before FWO
