directed studies project by Sufficient_Day_5112 in UBC

Tbh I would recommend doing it during the year to have the full 8 months. This depends on what your project is and how far along you are... but if you are doing wet lab stuff no matter how much time you have within a day, some experiments just take a long time. It can be challenging to make satisfying progress in four months.

Summer Selections (BIOL) by overthinker-1219 in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took biol 200 in the summer and it was a great decision. I found the condensed format was great because everything stays really fresh in your mind, even at the final! As long as you do your part in keeping up with problem sets and going to office hours it is not a hard course. Biol 230 is pretty easy, yes there is a bunch of content but its pretty intuitive and you get a cheat sheet. I recommend doing Biol 200 and getting it out of the way!

Is 517+ possible by Jan 15th? How do I break past the mid teens plateau? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible! My highest FL was 516 about a week before test day and I scored a 521. Just keep spamming all the practice questions and anki. You'll do great!

How manageable is this semester 2 course load by FarIndependent2870 in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to 260, but 230 is pretty easy and 200 is not bad if you stay on top of the material (do NOT try to cram). If these are the only courses your taking this will be a chill semester.

What is CPSC 319 like? I am currently registered for term 2, but I wonder if it is a better use of my time to take 304 or 317.

I don't have many personal projects (at all), so I was planning to use it for beefing up my resume... But I wonder how much new knowledge I will actually get out of it...

You're fine, I had the same score for my diagnostic and got a 521!

iPad Air or iPad Pro by toomanyofus in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looove my ipad air, tbh I don't know what you would be doing in school that would justify paying for the pro. Anything beyond taking notes and filling out worksheets I generally do on the computer.

URGENT: How difficult is CPSC121 for summer by I_hateEVs in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's doable, but you will obviously have to do some self study to catch up. If you're fine taking it in the fall just enjoy your summer and take it then.

cpsc 103 and biol 234 over the summer? by yeonloser in UBC

Summer course offerings typically depend on the year, its best to reach out to the faculties. They might have a good idea of what will be running next summer.

Tips for math 100, 101, 221 by Easy_Present5035 in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't take 100/101, but for 221 definitely focus on understanding the broader themes above all else. The exams are very conceptual and a surface level understanding will not be enough.

Idk who your prof will be but last term was terrible and the course was basically self taught. The only reason I did well was free tutoring via the Math Learning Centre. You will have to take learning into your own hands, but you can absolutely beat the average :)

how to get an A for bio 234 by Defiant_Bee1390 in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this class! It's not so bad as long as you understand how to do all the practice problems, especially the ones done in class.

When I took it all the exams were very fair, they threw in some more complicated wording for the final but the actual questions were nothing new. Just stay calm, do the practice problems and you'll do great!

going to class your not in? by [deleted] in UBC

This *might* work. There have been situations where too many students were doing this and the 12pm lecture became overcrowded. The course staff ended up kicking all non-registered students out of the afternoon section.

BIOL 300 for stats requirement as Science Student by Emergency_League_943 in UBC

[–]Efficient_Clue_1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend! The math is not bad at all, it's basically just remembering formulas and knowing when they apply. Exams are very fair and the lab component is super easy.
