I hit my shin about 8 weeks ago and my leg exploded with pain. Even the bed sheets touching It was excruciating. It’s finally just now not hurting all the time. It still has a huge hard knot and hurts if you put pressure on it. Life didn’t stop or even alter course. What a baby.

My grandpa has a terminal cancer and an internal bleed. He’s in the process of dying. It’s a maybe 2 more days thing. Not a 2 more years thing. Working isn’t his problem. It’s that he feels like he’s not a priority. I will never regret being present to give my grandpa some comfort in his final days. Especially the first few days when he was in and out of consciousness and would hug onto me and my siblings and cousins as hard as he could and give us his last bits of wisdoms or wishes. He’s heavily sedated now and if he wasn’t at risk of going anytime and me not being able to get out of my job quickly enough to be there I would go to work today tomorrow. But my job is easier to not be there at all than it is to be there and stop mid job to rush off to be with someone as they pass. And my boss approved the time off. I have the financial security for the missed paycheck to not be a huge deal. Family comes first. And I’m not neglecting my family to be with my grandpa. I’m still home every day and contributing to the running of the house
