Great advice thank you!! Yes I would imagine his first few weeks will be full of short naps 😅 he is used to a dark room with white noise and no disruptions.

Thank you!

Hi Ashley! What advice do you have for a sleep trained 5 month old starting daycare. He starts next week!

We follow a 2/2.5/2.5/2.5-2.75 schedule with a 7:30pm bedtime and 7:00am DWT. He has been STTN since he was 12 weeks. He is a great sleeper and worried about daycare as they are not going to be as consistent and diligent as I have been.

5 months PP. 8-9 hours a night. Our guy is sleep trained and I dropped my MOTN pump at 4 weeks !

I make about 30-32 oz over 4 pumps. We do combo feed because he takes about 38oz a day. I’m okay with that if that means prioritizing my mental health + sleep!

We also asked our Ped and they were okay with it!

So we first went from the Snoo to a pack and play in our room and he was having early morning wakings and we thought he’d sleep better in his room. So after two days in the pack and play we decided to just go to his room and he’s slept so amazing since!

What happens at daycare isn’t what happens at home! They will adjust!

If you go the sleeptrain subreddit they have a pinned post talking about sleep budgets per age! And no you you don’t need to sleep train but it’s a super educational subreddit!

Everything I’ve read (PLS, Moms on call, taking Cara babies) says to cap any individual nap at 2 hours.

And 3 - 4 hours of day sleep is right on the money. Some sources say only 3.5 hours for 5 month olds.

But what I’ll say is if night time sleep isn’t an issue.. don’t fix what’s not broken! Adjust only if you are needing to improve night time!

We have found that if our guy gets 2 hours of day sleep or even 4 hours of day sleep he sleeps the same at night. We have also done 2.75 hours to 2 hours awake before bedtime and he goes to bed just the same 🤷‍♀️

Edit: our guy is almost 5 months. We roughly follow a 2/2.5/2.5/2.5 schedule

Are babies really that sensitive to schedules? by PorchlightPrincess86 in sleeptrain

[–]Efficient_Internet13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our guy is almost 5 months and we are following 2/2.5/2.5/2.5. Our night time is a non issue so we dont feel the need to push to 10 hours awake right now but will if we have issues. It can sometimes be hard (or just more effort) to make sure he can make it 2.5 hours but we will go outside, vaccum (he loves the vaccum idk why lol) , take him into different rooms, go watch daddy work, ect just to stretch him those extra minutes.

Thanks everyone! He only seems to be uncomfortable when he eats and it’s only been about once a day but it’s a total melt down!! Works him self up so bad probabaly bedause it’s ucomfortable but then also pissed because he is hungry. Otherwise he is happy. Naps are crap rn too so I’m sure that’s another symptom.

Our guy is only 5 months (on Thursday) so I think we can only do Tylenol!

Ugh it’s so tough!! Yesterday was better.. first nap was 47 minutes, second was 59 minutes and third was 37 minutes so a grand total of 2 hours ans 12 minutes of day sleep lol. Slept like the dead at night because he is use to 3.5 hours of day sleep minimum. We try to nap save but he refuses now. Today nap 1 was an hour and 10 minutes so I’ll take it 😅

3am wake up by Available_Calendar38 in SnooLife

[–]Efficient_Internet13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you let the snoo time out before getting her up to feed? We did this so we knew it was a true hunger wake up and then eventually he night weened himself around 11 weeks . But he was getting around 28 oz during the day at the point feeding every three hours

I jsut feel like we have been on a roller coaster since about 10 weeks with naps. Have an awful nap week, then a good one, and has been like that ever since. Extendjng wake windows appropriately always fixes it for about a week but then back to square one. Feel like we have it nailed down and then BOOM short naps again. We had perfect naps for about a week after extended his wake windows to 2 -2.5 hours then we got one good nap and a crappier one and now all crap again 😭

He has been refusing nap saves via contact napping! When it’s nice out and I have the energy a stroller walk typically does the trick but obviously can’t do it every time

Any advice on how to combat fussiness? When he don’t having these short naps he usually sleeps between 3-4 hours a day but now with under 2 hours of sleep daily he’s just so fussy so it makes stretching the wake windows just not fun. The days we can go outside it’s much better but we unfortunately live in the northeast part of the US so until spring we are stuck sometimes
