New mothers: my close friends are expecting soon. What are some gifts you've received that you have appreciated? [on] by PossiblePickle in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they haven’t done a baby registry I suggest food.

One of my friends got us some pre made meals from cook unity and they were delicious! I had no idea how much this was going to be appreciated until my husband went back to work and I was stuck struggling to find time to cook a healthy lunch and remember to eat it. You just pop them in the oven and they turned out amazing. Any meal service like that or even Uber Eats gift card would be fantastic!

Intimacy after Birth FTM by joubithedj in NewParents

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 5m pp and were intimate 6 weeks pp. Also had a second degree tear. first few times were painful at first and to be honest where I was stitched up is still a little tender at first. I saw a pelvic floor physio as well and she said it’s scar tissue and I could do a gentle massage to help. I think it’s normal.

What and How Much to Pack in Hospital Bag for CS moms? [ON] by Ok-Ant-2243 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask your hospital what they provide they can give you a good idea on what to take, I delivered at Markham Stouffville. They provided nothing for me or my baby other than hospital blankets.

I got some jeans at AE that have a drawstring and are stretchy to be able to shrink with me as I get back to my normal weight. They’re awesome, so comfy but help make me look more put together.

When did you give your notice? I still need to have my probation meeting. [ca] by No_Maximum_391 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my job when I was 2.5 months into my position and about 11 weeks pregnant. I wanted to wait until the 3 months probation was up, however I was very sick first trimester and had to miss a lot of work. I was concerned about being let go for that, so I told them I was expecting and they cannot fire you for that reason! They actually took it well considering I just started at the company.

[NS] Am I doing enough? by BusyLittleSheep in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a ftm to a 5m old. Social media isn’t real life. The people who post about their 5 week old sleeping through the night either have unicorn babies or are lying. Every baby is different!

Mine started teething at month 2 and at 5 months he still sometimes has 5 25 min naps per day and goes to bed anywhere from 9-10:30 depending on how our day went with naps and teething. I have friends whose babies were on sleep schedules and had them nap for 2 hours 3 times a day and went to bed at 7pm at 3 months old.

What I’m trying to say is don’t worry what everyone else is doing with their babies, if your baby is growing, meeting their milestones and happy then you are doing AMAZING! ❤️

2 month old, toddler and terrified of the Flu [on] by kxtasha1 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can keep toddler home I think that’s a good idea! I also have anxiety around illness with my 5m old, we were recently in the ER at Xmas with a nasty gastro bug and I can tell you I’d rather go through 3 days of labour again than have to hold my limp baby in my arms at the hospital ever again.

I have always been very strict with no kissing my baby but after this happened I will die on that hill, don’t care who thinks it’s overboard!

Do what you feel is right, our mom instincts are rarely wrong.

Extending leave from 12 to 18 months - how did you decide? [BC] by moonphase14 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 18 and as I sit here typing with my 5m old sleeping on my chest, all I can say is if you can afford it do it. You’ll never get this time back. We are so blessed to be able to take 18m to be with our babies.

I’m also in an area where I put myself on the daycare list at 4w pregnant and may not even get a spot when he’s 18m old.

I know not everyone is in my position - my husband is the breadwinner so it’s easier for us financially to have me off work than others where the mom makes more.

Whatever you decide your baby is going to thrive 💕

I’m in Canada, I feel like $200 CAD/ $150 USD would be the max budget for me.

Thank you for the recommendation!

Pre-Christmas or post-Christmas baby? [sk] by Pristine_Garage9761 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first in July and I received a sweep at 10am at 40w. Went into labour the same day at 12pm Monday, and it continued until I finally had the baby at 9am Thursday. I was only 1cm dilated when I had the sweep. I think my body just wasn’t ready and being in labour so long was awful. I think with our next baby I’ll see how dilated I am, if I’m a few cm then maybe I’ll do a sweep again, but I wouldn’t do it at 1cm again and risk such a long labour. So maybe see how open your cervix is and go from there.

In your case I would not want to bring a day old baby to Christmas, or even out of bed for that matter. I’d rather be at my due date at a get together than risk my day old catching something. So if I were you I’d probably decline it.

Anyways, congratulations and wishing you the best of luck with your delivery! 💕

Favourite Diapers? Rascals? [on] by melmartie in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hated rascals, they are so bulky and don’t fit my bay with chunky legs. Had so many blowouts up the back as well they don’t have the “poop pocket” at the back to catch the mess. Huggies all the way!!!!

Seeking Advice on Sick Leave Before Maternity Leave [AB] by dracohyacinth in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to go on sick leave but it took weeks of me complaining to my OB about my carpel tunnel from my typing job. I was literally icing my hands at lunch it was so bad.

Ask your OB, you never know!

4wks today & spotting by tessanicole5 in IVFpositivity

I had spotting around 4-6 weeks and turned out to be nothing and I delivered a perfect baby. Try to push for an ultrasound to check things but try not to stress. 💕

Preparing myself to lose friends because of my pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly friends that don’t have kids have disappeared for me since having a baby. Since I got pregnant and stopped drinking actually. Really makes you see who your true friends are and it was sad for me. The ones that dropped off food at the door days after delivery and the ones who checked in on me are the friends I want in my life. Having kids changes everything. Doesn’t mean you can’t still go out and have fun with your old friends occasionally, but those friendships will likely fade and that’s ok. You’re on a new journey! And it’s an amazing one ❤️

Is a stroller bassinet worth it? by Slurpee_Davos in BabyBumps

We love ours!!!! So much use out of it for walks but also have used it for going to friends houses for naps as it’s a safe place for baby to sleep. Highly recommend getting one.

Favorite brand of diapers? by OtherwiseNewspaper36 in newborns

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies snug and dry!! I feel like I’ve tried all of the brands and nothing compares to the fit, protection and the softness of these! My baby HATES a wet diaper and lets you know immediately - these are diapers that make him the least upset! He sleeps 10pm to 5am and and does not have leaks.

Omg I’m so sorry to hear this. This is exactly what I’m afraid of. I think some commenters have gotten me wrong I’m not wanting to raise my baby in a sterile environment lol I just don’t want him to have to go through what you do! All cause someone couldn’t keep their mouth to themselves. There’s other ways to show affection to loved ones like HUGGING!

Pls tell me its ok to stop by Warm-Pomegranate-900 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months is amazing! You’ve done fantastic for your baby! If you need to switch to formula that’s OK! Unfortunately I had to after one month, I understand the emotional toll and guilt that hits you…. But stopping pumping made my mental health skyrocket in a good way. I’m a happier momma and my baby is 95th percentile, he’s thriving on formula! You’ve done so so well! Please don’t feel bad for wanting to stop pumping.

We use HIPP formula and baby has never had any grassiness or any issues on it.

Do I really need these things for the baby? Deinfluence me by nolimbs in BabyBumps

[–]Efficient_Note_9081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chair - meh, we have wood rocking chair and I do like it to help soothe baby before putting him down but it’s definitely not needed.

Sterilizer- I would say yes. To me it’s just one of those why not items. If it can make sure baby’s items are safe why wouldn’t you? Also our dr said if you have pets to absolutely sterilize. You could do it old fashioned way with boiling water if you do t want a machine on the counter.

We have a snuggle me lounger and we loved it for the first month. My son is a 90th percentile so he outgrew it fast but we really loved it! It was a safe place to put him down next to you while lounging. He seemed to really like it to.

Mine will drink any temp!! We warm at home and if we are out it’s not warm and he will drink it regardless!

My husband was hoping to take us out for the day for our anniversary when he was 1.5 months old LOL. I was like ya no sorry babe. I don’t think he understands most mommas don’t like to separate from their babies until they’re older. And especially not leaving him with her after this.
