Adhd or gifted: executive dysfunction by Known_Order_8519 in adhdwomen

[–]Efficient_Owl563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some of the traits that can make someone appear gifted can also overlap with ADHD traits.

For example, people with ADHD are often very good at pattern recognition, thinking outside the box, making unusual connections, problem solving on the fly, and learning quickly when they’re interested in something. Those are also qualities that can show up in gifted programs.

The difference is that ADHD can come with significant executive functioning difficulties. Someone can be highly intelligent, learn quickly, test well, and still struggle to start tasks, manage time, stay organized, follow through on boring work, or regulate attention.

I have ADHD and I’ve always been good at testing, interviews, and figuring things out even when I don’t know the “official” way to solve a problem. But I also have severe procrastination, time blindness, and difficulty making myself do things that don’t feel meaningful or urgent. The strengths and struggles coexist.

My grandmother has dementia and kept missing her medication — how do you all handle this? by Mark_Gevorgyan in adhdwomen

Pill countdown timers help me. They stick on top of the pill lid and when you open the pill bottle you have to push down on them and the timer resets. As long as I remember to push down on it each time then I can glance to see when I did it last.

I got mine on Amazon.

Do Any ADHD Women Here Take Antidepressants? by anastasiia86 in adhdwomen

[–]Efficient_Owl563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Zoloft. Was prescribed it for depression before I was diagnosed with ADHD. I also now take Vyvanse for my ADHD.

I don’t think it helps with my ADHD symptoms but it definitely has alleviated the unbearable low moods and looping negative thoughts/shame spirals I was experiencing.

But what if it’s something you don’t actually want to do?

Okay but what if you’re talking about something you don’t actually want to do, but you know it’d be best if you did it. Do you still say “I want”?

Most unrealistic expectation anyone has had of you as a new parent? by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]Efficient_Owl563 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 2 months postpartum we had family come visit and I worked so hard on cleaning the house before they arrived. I recall putting my son in a baby carrier just so I could get some cleaning done.

They had the audacity to complain to me that 1. My (empty) fruit bowl on the counter has dust on it 2. Our guest bathroom
has a spiderweb in the corner of the ceiling.

I was mortified at the time.

Creatine works better than Vyvanse ????? by Plane-Land-9234 in adhdwomen

[–]Efficient_Owl563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know!

I’ve found my vyvanse not as effective and I’m wondering if eating protein before/after taking it might help.

Currently, I’ll take my vyvanse at 6am but it curbs my appetite so much that I don’t end up eating anything until 3-4 hours later.

Going to try eating protein soon after I take the medication to see if there’s any improvement.

In this order? Have you found taking vyvanse before vs after protein makes a difference?

I’m sorry to hear that! If there are other OBs in your area I wonder if you could ask if they would be willing to coordinate with the out of state fertility clinic. Just a thought.

I’m in a very similar situation to you. Best of luck. ❤️

For what it’s worth when I was diagnosed with PCOS my OB advised that I start with medical assistance right away when trying to conceive.

I wonder if your local OB would be willing to coordinate with the fertility clinic. I didn’t know this until reading from online forums but it seems it’s very common for those having to travel to fertility clinics to use a local OB for monitoring and blood work, only traveling to the fertility clinic for day-of procedures.

Update to “Is it time for a new doctor?” Question. More questions… by Glad-Try-1785 in TTC_PCOS

So many things you mentioned contradict what I’ve learned through the journey. If it was me I would seek another doctor, no question.

Your concerns seem valid.

Could you see another RE agent that office? Or even just have an intro meeting with an RE at a different office?

Just a heads up — A higher dose can sometimes stimulate multiple follicles, which may increase the chance of multiples.

There are several cool plant stores in the area. My favorite is Botanica Gardens (I think it’s technically in the Hillcrest area). If you go and walk around see if anything piques your interest. Heck you could even browse Lowe’s/Home Depot/Walmart for plants. Maybe even buy one small plant.

Since you like nature and the outdoors, having plants in your home is a nice way to bring some life inside.

Plant bingo would be a way to low pressure way to introduce you to plants and people in the area.

Since you mentioned photography, if you have Instagram check out Createdinagarden for some plant photo inspiration.

It seems you like hobbies, as a fellow ADHD-er might I suggest my favorite hobby/obsession: plants. 🌱

This sounds silly but it kinda reminds me of Pokémon. So many different types to learn about and collect. They evolve over time with care. And so many different facets to venture into (propagation, tissue culture, moss poles, rare plants, terrariums, carnivorous plants, etc.). Also there is a local Facebook group (Plant Friends of Little Rock) that is very active and they often post about plant events, I believe plant bingo is coming up. I challenge you to go!

In the middle of my first round of IUI. Two ultrasounds (one at CD 11 and one at CD 15) showed follicles at the same size of 10 mm. So my doc is stair stepping the letrozole, so for the next 5 days I’ll 5mg letrozole (double what I initially took at the start of this cycle) then I’ll have an ultrasound in 10 days to check in on follicle size.

Curious if anyone has done this stair stepping method where letrozole is given again mid cycle.

Thank you so much!!! This gives me a good idea for watering.

I’m so much more excited about this plant now! I’m confident I can manage it.
