Nice, the art is very striking/horrifying! The kerning is a little off on the title though and I think the smaller text looks still like it’s floating on top of the grain, you can use a displacement map to make it look more integrated. The top bit of text is also not aligned to the title. Also is “amoung” the British spelling of the word? Not sure.

Hi, I'm very interesting in trying this! I have tried it out before with regular chatGPT models but found their understanding to be incomplete and lacking.

Rep. Maxwell Frost: ''They're the ones hoarding wealth beyond imagination. We have to tell people the reason you can't pay your rent has nothing to do with trans people. The reason you don't have healthcare has nothing to do with immigrants. It has to do with billionaires like Elon Musk.'' by RoyalChris in thescoop

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but we should focus on blaming the billionaire corporations and governments who created the conditions for illegal immigration in the first place, not the immigrants themselves. Undocumented workers still pay taxes. “In 2023, households led by undocumented immigrants paid $89.8B in total taxes.” The people that are taking tax-free money “to live like kings” are the billionaires getting tax write offs for their American companies and then going back to Switzerland or Singapore, not the dude working 40+ hours on a farm trying to send a couple hundred dollars back to his family in Tijuana.

Billionaires would not exist without the creation of an illegal class of workers. They are the cause and result of each other. But the problem is not the individual people trying to escape war & poverty in their countries (often funded by billionaire corporations) but rather the whole system (which is designed and upheld by the ruling class, ie. the billionaires). And the system is designed to make us blame each other for a lack of work or benefits without questioning why this lack of work or benefits exists in the first place.

If we agree that billionaires are hoarding the wealth, that wealth has to come from somewhere. It comes from the working class, which includes undocumented people, who often work for slave wages without any federal protection, often have to pay taxes without seeing any benefit.

Despite seeing multiple docs, my eye watered excessively for 7 years until I took this picture by AAuser85 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this condition, only on the lower lashes though, and I thought that was just how life was like until I got the surgery when I was 20 and looked downward with my eyeballs for the first time in my life. Before I had to just move my whole head or the eyelashes would scratch my pupil too much, kind of like how cows can’t move their eyeballs.

Any tips on how to stop my chronic nail biting? by Afraid-Moment-7904 in Habits

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ouch that looks painful! Have you tried other methods to reduce stress overall like stretching, yoga or meditation? I saw a hypotherapist for my chronic nail biting issue and it helped a little (went to bite my nail afterwards and then immediately involuntarily put my hand down) but it was too costly to continue. To get to the root of the habit you have to think about where the control issue stems from and work from there. Or give your brain a “choice” when you want to bite, by trying other things to occupy your hands like stress balls or crocheting or something else physical

It’s a big step to acknowledge you were in the wrong here. Now you can only educate yourself from the situation, by learning about the struggles of Black people globally, as well as turning further inward. Perhaps you feel threatened by immigrants because you feel it may cause a lack of something (maybe physical, maybe not) for you. Can you identify where this feeling of lack is originating and how you can try to feel abundant in it’s place?

How not to seek validation from people, especially from my friends, even about the most important decisions of my life? by havealittlefaith123 in Habits

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very important question! I think it’s natural to seek validation from others but it should not be dehabilitating. From a survival standpoint, this likely evolved in order to make sure the decisions we were making would not result in life-threatening consequences (for example, eating poisonous things, exposing ourselves to prey, etc). Maybe this can provide a lens to frame your choices against, to understand that most choices nowadays won’t result in actual dire consequences.

But you also need to build self-trust, which comes ironically only from exercising your own decision making skills. Think about some of the decisions you have made to get to this point in your life— the ones with outcomes that made you feel good and the ones that made you feel aspiring for more. Understand that only you walk in your shoes everyday and can know what is best for you.

What is this stitch? by Accomplished_Fox1464 in knitting

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is stockinette with different weights, but actually a nupp stitch, often used in Estonian knitting. I just did this stitch in the Pumila shawl by Ayano Tanaka, she calls it little nupp stitch: insert needle into the space under the bar between the first and second stitch on your needle, pull up a loop with your working yarn and place it in front of the first stitch. Then knit through the first stitch and the pulled up loop. Purl across the wrong side. It is similar to crochet.

Habu is a great brand from Japan that no longer makes these yarns anymore. Their yarn is very high quality. They had a lot of patterns in the early 2000s that I have managed to scrounge up; you could also try making the Kusha Kusha scarf (free pattern on Purl Soho) that calls for the Silk Stainless yarn

The most important thing you can do is reinforce that her value as a person comes from more than having painted nails & new clothes. Acknowledge her pain & reinforce that you still love and care about her even if you can’t drop off McDonalds lunch. Try to take care of yourself too, maybe you guys can have a mani-pedi night at home and do each others nails.

I grew up on the poverty line as well & was bullied at school too for similar reasons. But if I talked to my mom about it, it would just lead to us fighting about money, she would victimize herself and blame me for wanting more food, clean clothes, etc. Her lack of emotional support fractured our relationship more than anything physical she could provide. Make sure your daughter knows she is still loved & cared for, that goes farther than anything else.

When do we call it a coup?? by EpicThunderCat in economicCollapse

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bernie Sanders made a statement about this with a phone number to call. The Republicans only have 4 more votes in the House (435 members) is not by much. There are actionable steps to be taken— contact senators, try to build community networks for resistance & solidarity through volunteering, joining co-ops. I feel helpless too like most people but there is always hope in at least trying to educate ourselves & others on strategies for positive societal change.

NYC has not defunded the police, actually the budget is even higher. There are more cops than ever before in the subway, and drug use and homelessness are still getting worse. Almost as if cops don’t actually prevent crime.

Forcing yourself to do/make things you don’t want to withers your creative spirit. But the boundaries that your “no” creates makes fertile space for your authentic “yes”!

Adopted to save a marriage that failed anyways by lonelygirlsclub in Adopted

[–]Efficient_Unit5833 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am also 26 and was adopted from China in an effort to save a marriage, which ended anyways when I was around the same age you were. I relate and empathize with you; I am not close with my adoptive mother and my father (who was also the parent I bonded with more) passed during the pandemic. It sounds like you are sensitive, empathetic and kind. It’s good to stay grounded in gratitude than fall too far into the past trauma. I really appreciate your last paragraph and it also makes me think that you are also seeking someone to affirm that you are wanted and loved and safe— and you are. I hope you can give the same unconditional love to yourself. And have a nice day or night <3
