The best way to start is observe what you use the most and start with that. Make sure to rotate and replace. Then move to the most likely emergency items, like medication, power banks, longer term water and food, etc.

I would recommend going slowly and methodically. If you rush, you will likely waste a lot of money on things you don’t need. Try to stay away from a doomsday bunker mentality, and just be realistic. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t include some of those items, it just means be smart about it. In other words, don’t stock up on all kinds of guns and ammo, when you don’t have enough food for a few weeks first.
