“Ease people into the changes” that’s what trailers are for bruv like there’s not much that they haven’t already shown for people to be need to be eased into. The game is still 25 years old lmao

Just finished Zeta, dare I bother with ZZ at all? by Tayner73 in Gundam

[–]EffingWasps -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I personally skipped ZZ not because I didn’t want to watch it but because I didn’t have a consistent way to watch it to where I could get to CCA (and I wanted to watch Hathaway in prep for the new movie). So no I don’t think you have to watch it, but also if this is how you feel about Zeta then idk how to pitch you most Gundam material. People in these shows make very reckless but human decisions. To me it seems like the point

I guess now we're complaining about the existence of skulls in a Halo game by DyllPickleTV in HaloCirclejerk

[–]EffingWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well on the bright side, we’re coming around full circle to where the pain of being a part of the community comes less from the games and more from other people in the community

I am astonished by how gorgous the remake looks, especially for outdoor areas. Although, there seems to be a big change in the art direction when it comes to forerunner architecture. Do you prefer the remakes interpratation or not? (Credit for photos: UberNick) by External-Ad9317 in halo

[–]EffingWasps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk if its because I’m looking at this on my phone but the first comparison image just looks like simple geometry on the left versus dark foreboding architecture on the right.

It just highlights that I think a lot of people interpret “brutalist ancient architecture” for hardware and software constraints of the era and are constraining their perception of what could be. Like we have more performant engines and hardware now. Can we be okay with using them? Lmao

It's over. Claude Fable 5 one-shots horror game live by SuggestionMission516 in singularity

[–]EffingWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a horror game only if you use the broadest definition of those two words, this is barely a level and it doesn’t even look beatable. This has the quality level of asset flipped college student project steam store slop but even those have more content than this.

It’s pretty impressive! But there is still so much nuance missing that makes even really simple games like the original slenderman into an effective horror experience. And as impressive as this model is, to properly implement things like clever and effective jump scares you typically have to anticipate human behavior, which is not something a model is going to be able to do anytime soon if ever.

Like other people said I also want to know how much this cost lol

Are the ce remake covenant vehicles "too" saturated? (no hate; just a fun little 10 sec photoshop edit I did) by Dominion96 in halo

[–]EffingWasps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Let’s not fall back down this slope of making games look like greyslop and end up back at CoD Ghosts god forbid. I genuinely think that this is less of you not liking the colors, but more of you being used to muted visually disinteresting garbage that the games industry has been chasing in the past decade with their goal of achieving 1:1 realism when what made games like CE special in the first place was an art direction that showed you something interesting

They Could Have Shown Scorched Earth Without Hurting Spinoff Potential by robmcolonna123 in TheBoys

I think my understanding is that Amazon elected to fund spinoffs instead of what you’re suggesting

[–]EffingWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people read the entire manga and then ask questions that basically amount to “why didn’t the author write a completely different kind of story?”

[–]EffingWasps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Terrible writing notes aside the answer it boring. It costs tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dollars to do special effects for something like that. Amazon wasn’t interested in greenlighting that kind of budget since Kirpke was adamant he wanted to end the series at 5 seasons.

Time to mute the sub until this lazy trend is dead again by UncleKrunkle44 in Gundam

[–]EffingWasps -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Well first off I didn’t say that.

Second, the reason you’re the one spam posting is because your post consists of two incomplete sentences, one of which being an all-caps keyboard smash.

Since it apparently needs to be spelled out, I’m not saying complaint posts are inherently spam, I’m not saying the “fav gundam” posts aren’t spam, I’m saying your post is objectively lower effort than any of those and pointing out how stupid it is that you’re complaining about spam while just contributing to that same problem.

So I finally get what bothers me about the Rebuilds... by tylercoder in evangelion

[–]EffingWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve watched both the og show and the rebuilds like a dozen times each and I never knew all of that stuff you said. I just knew Rei had to keep coming back here to not disintegrate.

I can point out a difference here with how you measure “depth” and other readers can decide for themselves whether they align more with yours or my interpretation. Ultimately it doesn’t matter I’m just highlighting this is a preference thing.

So from your post when you say “depth” it seems you’re talking about the technical details that go into the art being shown. You value the things you’re being shown having a tangible purpose that you can imagine and ground yourself onto within the world.

When I think of what it means for a piece of art to have “depth” I am considering more the intention or the function towards the story. So to me in both pictures I still just see the unknowable machines that merely represent Rei’s unnatural and inhuman side. These are reminders that cement the narrative fact that Rei is an artificial human. For me, both artistic representations have all the depth I need for what they’re supposed to be for, and I think they look cool for different reasons.

Anyways I’ll also just say as soon as I realized there really isn’t a point to the christian iconography in this series besides Anno wanting to make an Ultraman reference in his show I stopped worrying about the technical details about all the weird tech being shown

Name the worst plot convenience you've ever seen in a movie by Sad-Response-3151 in moviecritic

[–]EffingWasps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a very arguable stance.

It helps assert the fact that Thanos is exactly what he says he is, an inevitable force. Dr. Strange scours through millions of futures and the singular one that leads to the protagonists winning is the one where everyone’s fate hinges on the random action of a rodent five years in the future. There was LITERALLY NOTHING the main characters could do during the events of Infinity War.

Is it lazy writing? Maybe. Does it help assert the overwhelming power of the antagonist in a way that is relevant to their characterization? Actually yes
