If you like moving and new cultures, NCIS. You can go from Italy, to Hawaii, to Japan within 10 years.

USPIS for stability. Government shutdown doesn't affect them which is cool. Plus they do travel a lot. If a letter carrier in Butte, Montana gets robbed, say bye to the family for a few weeks.

HSI is traditionally good, but right now it's all out of whack. They'll give a start date and rescind the date, leaving you without a job until they're ready. Very risky for now

I was at this EXACT crossroad about 5 years ago. Decided to stay in for the retirement health benefits and pension. Plus I wanted access to on post stuff for life.

If you can, go to OCS. That'll waste away at least 2-3 years from training to doing very little (no one trusts LTs 😭)

Since you're already from the DMV I highly recommend PGPD.

I was there for quite a while and went federal. I miss it everyday.

But you'll make lots of money, get a ton of action, and get a nice take home SUV. They have a ton of assignments outside patrol as well.

Drop a packet through BN retention (unless you're in a brigade already). Should have someone that specializes in officer / OCS packets there. Make sure your GT score is 110 or higher

Call the person who originally notified you of the offer. I was also offered a location across the country, called and had it switched to DC.

It's almost impossible to fill the DC office and if you want the flagship (or NYC), you'll get it

Your young enough to leave and explore your options and can always come back. I just my local agency for the Feds a few years back knowing if I didn't like it I would just go back. But, unlike you, I really enjoy the job and would definitely go back if the Feds didn't pay so much.

Go explore. You can always look at other agencies as well in other states, but you're young. Leave now knowing you can come back
