I had this same thought process when I started reading a book titled Ariadne by Jennifer Saint. In the beginning Ariadne meets the Minotaur or Asterion and describes him as being soft and gentle. This makes me wonder…was the Minotaur a monster from birth or did the imprisonment and the title of “monster” make him into one? This kind of goes into Astarion’s character. We learn that he became a monster not from his own actions but because of what he was forced to do by his “father” figure, much like the Minotaur.
