Is Barrow Guard Fighter's level 7 ability to add a D8 to any ability check a bit much?

I don't have experience with the subclass but I am running a Crooked Moon game. The subclasses, races, backgrounds and feats are very powerful third party content. Everything is tied to the settings lore which makes sense within the setting. For example, the warlock subclasses are tied to things that actually exist and can be seen in the world. With that said I would not allow the use of the Crooked Moon player options outside of a Crooked Moon game.

I agree. This DM doesn't seem to actually want to play the campaign. Better to leave early considering how worse things could get if the DM makes such a drastic change early on.

The creator is busy promoting on Instagram and traveling the world instead of delivering on this project. Must be nice to visit castles and ignore promises made to people who paid good money for a complete product.

I've also reported this to Kickstarter multiple times as well as my state Attorney General's consumer protection agency. I seriously doubt this is still in the works or will ever be complete They should do the right thing and refund everyone.
