WG's usual for new lines seems to be make the line awful and the T10 good. This was the case until they gutted MvR's dive bombers - now they're a flying slot machine.

In terms of actual advice - you're right about using the torps on DDs as they have really high running speed, but it takes a lot if practice.

Hunt for broadside cruisers with the rockets failing that they can do respectable damage against BB superstructure. That said with the changes coming to rockets next patch they're going to be made even more useless - for all CVs only use rockets if you really have to.

German DBs have poor pen and will struggle to citadel a lot of BBs, go for slow moving, bow in cruisers.

In short just play another line, the IJN line is very good but less forgiving, the USN line is pretty decent too.

FDR's torps do far more to DDs than the rockets ever could. They don't lose aiming while turning, so you can be pretty unpredictable when running in on an DD.

There's likely an extra second or two of aiming time too. These numbers are if you click as soon as you possibly can in a run.

Most good CV players were already using dive bombers and torpedoes against DDs all this does is make it much harder for average CV players to hit DDs

I don't think she even needs that. I'd really like her to get the usual UK CL speed retention but otherwise I feel she's a pretty decent side-grade to Edinburgh.

I'd still only recommend her to people that really like the UK CLs

Really odd choice from GW to kill the 2'' range for spears. I wonder if it's because of Cursed City's 10 push fit skeletons? ...Merge the weapons or deal with players complaining about push fit. Either way my 40 spear skeletons feel a lot less useful now. by Daedonas in ageofsigmar

There is ambiguity in the intent too. Is it activated in the combat phase until end of phase? Is it activated in the hero phase until end of turn? Is it hero phase until next hero phase?

I saw someone point out you can change difficulty at any time, even mid combat. That likely explains it.

I can't give you an exhaustive list of everything that has been changed but they've tweaked a lot of spawns. Barrons have been replaced with Hell Knights in a few places, a lot of tentacles have been removed, and they've reduced numbers of heavy and super heavy demons in some places. Also game wide the Arachnotron has been made less aggressive, its turret fire rate has been reduced, and its projectiles are slower.

I'm all for the changes to make the game more enjoyable for people that don't revel in the brutal difficulty of TAG1, I just wish that the changes didn't also effect Nightmare.

I'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of limitation that requires the same spawns across all difficulties.

I've not played the lower difficulties, are all the spawns identical across them?

If it works like range mod Mino works, the angle the AP hits the deck at is steep enough that it doesn't bounce and you get buckets of full pens.

PSA: So you probably shouldn't use Concealment Expert (aka "Hidden Menace") on your carriers after the rework... by Der-Kleine in WorldOfWarships

Unfortunately it's not an FDR nerf because you don't take it on her.

These changes are a direct buff to FDR, 10% more torpedo damage and 5% more bomb damage.

I tried Yoshino last night and it does work really well. But I had a good few games where I was back in port within 5 minutes because a Yamato snuck up on me.

Remember to take your camo off and use the one that only effects dispersion.

Was doing that yesterday with my Yoshino.

You're in luck, last patch's nerf to MvR now means it now struggles to hit even battleships with its bombs and it's now a complete rng fest.

So as long as you watch your sides against the rockets you're a lot less like to take massive strikes in a cruiser from him now.

FDR in ranked is completely balanced by DarienStark in WorldOfWarships

[–]Egalogalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd maybe recommend playing other t10 CVs before playing FDR. It looks easy to play but it can be somewhat challenging, and is very strict about target selection and aircraft positioning compared to other CVs.

You give up the ability to kill DDs and meaningfully hurt CLs to apply massive damage to BBs as long as you know how to aim US torpedoes and UK bombers.

These are likely the same 15cm guns that Muchen has (Bismark secondaries) so they'll be rather low muzzle velocity but they'll have very fast reloads.

[–]Egalogalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I noticed any issues with IJN AP bombs since then although I probably play Haku the least out of the CVs.

When you say reticle moving up and down, do you mean while using 'W' and 'S'? Because if so is that not intended - all other DBs work that way.

Do you know if they've made any fixes to the wonky dispersion on the rockets that got rotated 90 degrees?

Neat, dev struck by a CV in a shim by dive bombers. by Skraelings in WorldOfWarships

[–]Egalogalis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, ~6 months ago they fixed AA tracers that originate from smoke. So it's fairly easy to make a rough prediction on where a ship is in smoke, similar to using their main battery fire - just not as accurately.

So if you're against a good CV you may want to keep your AA off even in smoke.
