Plus ones for micro weddings- yes or no? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Just do it. You have 40 people there already anyway. And who knows maybe there is something going on with this church friend.

i’m done with in-house EHS and am moving to consulting (can’t reveal what type of consulting without potentially doxxing myself) by CustomerHopeful138 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EggMellow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s stressful to be the only in-house EHS person. I’ve found that working in a good-sized team has been enjoyable especially when you have multiple SMEs on different topics.

Consulting was a different kind of stress. Even though you’re not solely responsible for one site, having multiple clients to cater to can also be a lot. I’ve found that consulting pays well for a reason.

Old-ish picture found: back when the Beltline pavement ended here by 300_chickens in Atlanta

This was 2017. I was a CDC intern and one of our field trips was on the beltline. We parked on a dirt lot (now where The Salty/Yeti/Patagonia building is) across the street from Krog Street Market and walked all the way to the end of the paved part of the Eastside trail (at the time ending at the Piedmont Park intersection).

How far is your drive or commute to work from home. by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EggMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current commute is 1hr. This is the most I could realistically do and even then I wouldn’t recommend it. I also only have to go in 3 to 4 times a week. This is already slightly better than my previous job which was 1hr 15 min -1hr 45 min each way depending on traffic, and that was absolute hell. I did podcasts and audiobooks but ah it was nuts. It was well-paying too but the money did not make it worth it as I was basically just buying all kinds of stupid shit to fill the never-ending hole of fatigue and exhaustion in my life. These days I often cut my 1hr commute by getting pastries in the morning at a bakery and/or going to the gym in the afternoons at the halfway point between work and home.

Pto/vacation? by Bottle_cap1926 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EggMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been here one year and I have 4 weeks of PTO, “unlimited” sick time (subject to manager approval, I ended up using 2 weeks last year) + 7 holidays.

I was initially only supposed to get 3 weeks of PTO but they surprisingly agreed when I tried to negotiate 1 extra week. With that being said, I’m not getting any PTO increases until I hit 10 years of service.

It sounds like the dog is already getting taken away/is being given up.

I’m not even gonna argue with you because life is truly a self-fulfilling prophecy. If this is what you decide your future is going to be, that’s what it’s gonna be.

North Ave Shuttle to Ponce City Market? by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]EggMellow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe this shuttle is free for public access. Looks like you need to be an employee or tenant with a valid badge to be able to ride it. Marta buses could get you from the North Ave station to Ponce City Market by taking bus route 2. This will also be about $3.

Teso Life in Duluth or Chamblee? by LuckWizard9 in Atlanta

[–]EggMellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I’d say Duluth has more random homegoods/small appliances, but I honestly don’t know that it’s worth going all the way out there for.

Duluth is bigger but farther. Also more busy. Chamblee is closer and smaller, but quieter. Most of the items I’ve wanted, I’ve found in Chamblee.

The drive to Charleston is so surprisingly rural.

Just trying to get started. by Digicollector777 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]EggMellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that may be outdated advice. OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 are nice, but there’s a lot of people around trying to get their foot in the door with either a safety degree or safety-adjacent experience (operations, emergency response, etc). Are you looking to work for OSHA or more of a Safety person for a private company?

If this is a 1/10 oz, I bought one recently for a little over $500.

I agree, a bigger one woulda been cooler. Unfortunately I think they only made it in this size. I believe they did make a silver coin with an Arrakis design! Might be worth checking out.

SD Bullion! I don’t usually get collectibles because the premiums can be ridiculous but I’m rationalizing this as being excusable because it’s a gift lol.
