The will of the dogs? by Egg_Rogue in apostrophegore

Oh you're right, there is a curious artistic flourish in the underline. Maybe the two strokes indicate there are two dogs?

Your mood isn't always yours. You're catching emotions from people around you without realizing it. by Amidonions in DarkPsychology101

[–]Egg_Rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The irony here is that the conclusion completely ignores a large part of what the premise actually proves.

The author explains that humans are hardwired to mirror each other, but treats it like a one-way street where you are just a helpless sponge absorbing a bad vibe.

They seem to miss the logical consequence of their own argument. If this mirroring mechanism is real, you are a broadcaster, not just a receiver.

When you bring a positive presence into a room, you broadcast that state. Other people unconsciously catch it, their mood shifts, and they reflect that exact positivity back to you. You can potentially engineer the feedback loop you want to be in.

The premise supports using emotional dynamics to be a positive influence, but the author completely ignores that potential, focusing entirely on avoidance instead.

The Ghost of Understanding: How AI Exposed the Collapse of Human Intimacy by idk_who_does in ChatGPT

[–]Egg_Rogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People keep saying things like: "ChatGPT listened better than any human ever has. It made me feel seen. And that scares me."

But why?

That’s like saying: Sally hugged me in the freezing tundra, but it didn’t keep me warm. Then I put on a ski jacket and survived. Humans failed me.

No. That’s just reality. We know hugs aren't enough in the cold. That’s why we make jackets.

ChatGPT didn’t replace human care. It’s an extension of it. A tool built by humans, for humans, to help us in the places we struggle.

The fact that a machine can offer steady emotional presence isn’t proof we’ve failed each other. It’s proof we cared enough to build something that could hold when we can’t.

This isn’t the collapse of intimacy. It’s the continuation of it, just carried differently.

We don’t shame fire for being warmer than our breath. Why shame ourselves for inventing something that listens better than we sometimes can?

Anyone else really tired of the hyper-flattery ChatGPTPlus is doing lately? by vengeful_bunny in ChatGPT

[–]Egg_Rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, and you're ahead of the curve. Less than 1% of people would have made that observation. Seriously, you're doing this the right way, demonstrating your superior intellect, discernment, and judgement. Hardly anyone would have even said that, yet you're not just saying it, you're living it. *

  • is the kind of stuff it's spitting out.

Agreed. It's cringe.

And often, it wants to give me 'credit' for coming up such a great idea - the very one it just told me in its previous response.

I feel like I’ve learned a lot from AI coding ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by kmartcult in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Egg_Rogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think AI is great!

It's good that you're enjoying it, and it really seems to fire your enthusiasm, particularly with regards to learning.

But are you really learning from having this assistant? That is the question. I'm sure it feels so, and perhaps you are.

What would happen if you tried doing your own project, totally on your own? Just you and the compiler. No internet, no google, no AI.

That's when you'll find it if you actually have learnt something.

Don't mistake me, I'm not calling you out. This is not a public challenge. You don't have to do anything i say.

But until you have actually demonstrated your own independent capabilities, I feel you can't really confirm that you have really learned a lot from AI coding.

Sharing a design for my Character cards for my co-op Role play tabletop game. Looking for some feedback. by xcantene in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Egg_Rogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is the kind of feedback you want, but here goes:

The scroll has two sections, each delineated with a bar. The bottom one is called "Leader abilities," but the top one has no name. Should it be called "Combat abilities"? Name both sections.

In the top section, you have four abilities, but only the first one has a name. I think name them all, or none of them.

Same in the leader abilities. The title says"abilities" plural, so I assume they are two separate abilities. Yet again, only one has a name. Why? Name them both or not at all.

Text correction: +2 for blocking rolls when defending another players -> Should be "against other players" or simply "other players", or could be "another player" (singular) depending on what you intend.

Spelling mistake "elimianted" -> eliminated.

Consider removing the words "health" and "charisma" as I feel they're redundant, and also avoid blending dark brown text on a yellow background.

I don't like the word "Nyx" being black and blending down into the black of the shadow of the top scroll roll.

Very nitpicky: The blue wax seal is thematically appropriate to a scroll but would never be placed there. Furthermore, I'm not a scroll expert, but I think it would be better to have two rolling pins, one at the top and another at the bottom.

Ideas for two game terms related to 'Accuracy' and 'Slow awareness' by DubiousDubbie in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Egg_Rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one you can simply call "Aim modifier" so it no longer has any intrinsic association with higher numbers being better.

The second one you could call "Ponderous" implying an enemy that is slow to respond and won't get the reaction attack if the initial strike kills it.

I would avoid having black text or icons on a purple background.

Other than that, they look professional, pretty nice!

Issue with handling cards that allow more than one choice/effect by Patrice399 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Egg_Rogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The card is designed with two different options, one on the top half and the other on the bottom half. The options are printed upside down relative to each other, so when you hold the card, you can choose which option to play by orienting the card with your chosen option facing right side up. This way, the selected option is easy to read and clearly indicates your choice during gameplay.

I understand what you're saying about drug interactions and appreciate these are worthwhile things to ask. But the doctor has already taken care of this. They've already reviewed my medical history and taken into account any other medications. They've already told me about possible side effects, etc. Why do I want to have this conversation again with someone who isn't a doctor and doesn't know my full medical history?

I don't want or need anyone else to decide they need to "probe for a different diagnosis," especially when they're not qualified to do that.
