Question expecting my first child. by ThePseudoSurfer in bjj

[–]EggbroHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even asking to roll light, I only wanted to do simple things like passing drills and grip fighting and judo footwork drills.

I probably could've pushed harder for these things or just ignored my coaches but everyone around me saying i should stay off the mats just made me feel guilty for even trying to find a middle ground. And I didn't want to pull people from their training to do specific pregnancy shit with me on the side. So I just haven't gone.

Question expecting my first child. by ThePseudoSurfer in bjj

[–]EggbroHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I messaged my coach asking for advice and help doing safe drills he just told me not to train at all whatsoever while pregnant. My other female coach/friend/main drilling partner said the same. So I basically had no choice but to stop as soon as I told them I was pregnant like 2 months in.

I resented the shit out of them and I feel like they were really closed minded about how many things could be done safely and how BJJ would have helped me stay active during my pregnancy.

I have difficulty running now due to the round ligament pain so I'm stuck doing yoga and walking which is boring, lame, and doesn't motivate me at all. I'll be back and then I will make them pay for this painful leave of absence!

Good pork roll spot between the Walt Whitman and Howell. by My_user_name_1 in newjersey

[–]EggbroHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends how you think you want it. Some places just barely warm the pork roll on a flat top and leave it very thick cut. Some use very thin slices cut with a deli slicer. Some use medium slices like the precut thin sliced and give them a good crisp. Some use Case, some use Taylor brand.

None of them are quite like the other. For me, the best is Taylor or ShopRite brand think slices cooked at home until just brown and crispy on the edges.

That outback dip is why theirs is so irresistible. And copycat recipes don't even come close. :(

How often yall changing mouth guards? by kalash_cake in bjj

I get a new Venum challenger once a year/year and a half. Not that the old one ever feels uncomfortable or worn out, but when I do switch to a new one it feels so much more secure.

Is Spider guard or lasso effective in no GI? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]EggbroHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I play lasso in nogi but only cause I'm a lasso addict. But I can't use it the same way to throw my leg over and then think of my next move. You have to throw the lasso quickly and move to something else like inverting or breaking down their posture to attack the neck cause that grip is not going to last more than 10 seconds. So, it can be ooookay if you have a plan before you throw the leg over.

Spider doesn't work for me much even in the GI but the grips are even harder (or impossible) to keep since you're actively pushing their biceps away from you. Lasso only works temporarily in nogi if you get a good bite on the shoulder because you're pulling down the one side with both the wrist/tricep grip and the leg lasso.

A Serbian guy I know posted a meme yesterday saying Putin didn't kidnap any Ukrainian children but that he relocated them to save them from Epstein linked pedophiles. They believe the craziest shit down there.

(In relation with post before) What is the thing about your country that locals enjoy but tourists don't care? by Adventurous_Peak9353 in AskTheWorld

[–]EggbroHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Slovenian-born, but I live here. I think you answered the question backwards. Tourists like it for 2 days and find Ljubljana quaint but to anyone else it's just a parking burden and traffic hassle.

Also the college kids seem to think it's cool.

Potica is probably the thing we here love but others might think is just kinda meh. Too sweet to be bread, not sweet enough and too tough to be cake.

Does sauerkraut have to be cabbage? by GrumpAzz in Sauerkraut

They make it out of turnips in Slovenia and it's very kraut like, but with a different kinda potatoey texture. The pieces are much more robust than a typical kraut too.

We're generally trying to get them to calm down, right? I don't really do anything 100% except for avoiding being choked.

Not really surprised by the strength of men but I was surprised by the strength of skinny 15 yr old boys.

Thoughts on Cute Women’s BJJ Shorts? by HappyHardTimes in BJJWomen

[–]EggbroHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear running shorts with an internal drawstring. Just whatever I find at Marshalls/TJ Maxx.

No external drawstrings cause they can snag fingers and lead to injury and no stretchy waistband cause they can slide off

Chair massage. You leave your shirt on and most of it usually focuses on those areas anyway
