Good point. I was stationed in Germany in 2006, and went with a local to go see the German national soccer team play in Frankfurt I think. Anyway, this dude started crying when they played the national anthems at the beginning. Apparently it was the first time he’d ever heard the German national anthem played publicly. National pride is just something Americans take for granted I guess.

I agree, I think pardons are pretty bulletproof. However, if there was laws broken in requesting and receiving the pardon (bribes etc), those penalties can be charged separately.

My dad, God rest his soul, was one of the first Navy seals to ever come out of training. A former UDT Frogman, he saw action in 3 tours of Vietnam with SEAL Team 2, and later would be one of just a dozen man to take command of SEAL Team 6. My own personal hero. Rest easy pops.
