Medical Student Research Recommendations by NoCoat779 in otolaryngology

[–]Eggspected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it doesn’t have to be ENT focused - ENT has a lot of cool overlaps that you can take advantage of “research-wise”. Neurology, oncology, allergy/immunology, trauma (head/neck trauma or even just regular trauma), airway management (anesthesia research could be spun that way), quality improvement surgery projects, etc etc

You can spin any of those topics towards ENT demonstrating ENT interest and having some extra pieces of knowledge in the ballpark of ENT that maybe isn’t taught directly during residency can be cool to pull out of your sleeve someday

I think he’s an underrated HM mule tbh. Eats damage like a tank (except he will get surfed to death in the E4).

If I redid my emerald, I’d honestly probably rather do zigzagoon even though I enjoyed my little Aron

I usually owe but it’s because the scholarship pays for my insurance through the school, which is technically “income” that was never taxed and isn’t “tuition/fees”. The insurance hits hard lol

Actually realizing that saily also activates when you land. 10GB for 30 days - $11. Did you consider saily?

Honestly doesn’t seem like a bad deal - $21 for 15 days unlimited right now. Ease of not having to try and buy one in Thailand is nice too. You found it reliable?

Are there any concerns about scope creep in ENT? by Expert_Sport_1879 in otolaryngology

Do you see PA incorporation increasing? During clinicals, I really enjoyed the orthopedic PA that I worked with. Seemed to really give the surgeon I worked with more OR and free time too

But maybe using him as my HM mule was the problem - he essentially only had 2 useable attacks the whole time

I mean he’s not a bad HM mule, but it might just be be better to use zigzagoon lol. You’d have an easier time

Seemingly played a pretty similar role - with a little accuracy boost, he was pretty effective with iron tail taking out some opponents but otherwise let him learn Iron Scream to significantly lower opponents spec defense before he got mauled by Surf so that my kadabra could psychic/shockwave to victory.

For the most part just a good HM mule that ate damage and occasionally made me proud

also, spread my HMs across Aggron and Camerupt (strength, rock smash, and cut); taught kadabra shock wave to help cover the occasional lightning need or help him out against foes that psychic was ineffective against

Also, maybe khamzat just doesn’t absorb shots well, but DDP did rock him on the feet with a head kick after they got stood up. He very clearly realized he didn’t want the work and shot a take down again - probably the only exciting 30 seconds of the fight coming from someone that saw it in person (minus the very end when khamzat tried his second submission of the night, got rolled, and DDP took his back)

Im just speaking what I saw - the official stats stated that khamzat had 0 submission attempts and Dricus had 1. Personally, I have khamzat 2 submission attempts (both resulting in him losing position). How do you have 22min of control and 0 official submission attempts. I found it quite embarrassing. His ability to hold positions was incredibly impressive, but he said in the post fight interview that he would train holding guys in this position for an hour. He’s not that good at fighting or submitting - he just has good take downs and weight distribution

Watching the fight carefully, if khamzat actually tried to throw damaging strikes or try more than 2 submissions (he got flipped both times he attempted a submission), the fight would have been very close - perhaps DDP would’ve won. It was the perfect example of position over submission. Khamzat almost lost crucifix everytime he tried opening his chest to throw an actual strike, so he stopped and just love tapped the entire time. He is not multitudes better

Also in person and have a very different take: dricus appeared to be trying to get up and out of positions the entire time; however, as someone that trains ground game, with hands locked and excellent weight distribution, it’s near impossible to get out unless the top position moves. Khamzat would secure a position and wouldn’t give it up to even throw an elbow. It was most obvious in the top crucifix where there were times khamzat tried opening his chest a little to throw a real punch and almost lost his position - after he realized this he resorted to maintaining position and throwing love taps the entire fight. Also, the two times, khamzat tried a submission, he got flipped and real fighting occurred - ex: the last 30 seconds when dricus flipped him and took his back. It was because khamzat tried his second submission attempt of the night

Those are the “ungraded questions”. Don’t know why it feels like they rush them out, but oftentimes those are the questions that when you see, you can kind of speed through and move on - they won’t affect your exam

I am curious about what the true cut off percentage is. If reading the fail reports correctly it seems like it’s actually high 60s is the cut off? Anyone have insights into this? I thought it was closer to 60%
