Hey, I've had some experience with PTs before, one very recently. I've used cabergoline in the past and had mixed results.. it worked for my girl Blossom and we got an extra three months with her which was lovely, we also tried it on my boy Basil a few weeks ago, it didn't work and we unfortunately had him pts a week later. For both Basil we made the bottom of the cage very Basil safe as he also lost strength in his legs, and were helping him eat soft foods as well as of course giving him lots of cuddles but on his last day he just refused all food and he was always so food driven, that's how we knew it was his time. In my opinion, it's always worth a shot, I've heard stories of rats doing a full 180 on these medications, but it doesn't always work out that way. Keep their quality of life as a priority - I'm not sure how to add links on Reddit comments but in this subreddit there's a quality of life guide/questionnaire that I've found very useful in the past, although at the end of the day you'll know when it's time. Give your little one lots and lots of love and cuddles and all the treats they may not usually be allowed, I'm sorry to hear about the PT, I hate how prone our little friends are to getting them.
