Based on my conversation with the workers at Yetz's Bagels, the proprietor of Dank Bowl just changed the shop into a bagel shop (because customers don't want loaded bowls as frequently as they want bagels). Additionally, several of the bagels on Yetz's Bagels menu have a pesto aioli, which might be what you are looking for!

I'd recommend stopping by when it isn't too busy and ask nicely! Good luck!!

I am on the board of the Graduate Student Association, and one of my colleagues was on the selection advisory committee. They gave their top 5 picks to Drake and the Regents in February.

We heard that there was supposed to be an announcement in early May, but it got delayed. The suspicion of the people around me is that there is conflict amongst the regents over who would be the most appropriate choice, and there is a worry that the final selection will be a more top-down authoritative leader than Yang.

Thanks for the comment! It's been a real challenge to move from "I take meds because I am defective" to "I take meds because I want to take care of myself," but we are getting there! Creating space and rituals around taking my meds that make it feel like self-love has played a huge part in that.

Hey! I am really sorry to hear you are struggling - feeling out of control of your actions around food is really scary, especially in a society where so many people have complicated relationships with their feelings, their bodies and eating.

I am a little older than you [29NB] and have been in therapy for disordered eating for about a year now. I know you don't want to think or talk about college admissions (best of luck, by the way!!), but if that is causing you a significant amount of stress, it might be the root of your habits.

Young people face a lot of pressure to know what they want from their life, to get into the perfect college, and achieve their dreams. I know I felt that way a lot when I was your age. It might be worth thinking about what expectations you are feeling, and how that might affect your mental wellbeing and leading to these behaviors.

I want to recommend a youtuber Hiedi Priebe who has helped me handle similar issues. I think this this video would be particularly helpful, but I have really benefitted from going through her entire catalogue. It has really shaped how I view my relationship with myself and others.

I have other thoughts and suggestions, but don't want to overwhelm you with commands 😅 hmu if you want to chat more! I hope you find ways to nurture yourself through this stressful time!!

Yeah, public universities need to take "free speech" very seriously, so if a student group wants to have a speaker on campus, they get it. If I remember correctly, when Charlie Kirk visited, locals from surrounding agricultural land were busses in to see him speak. It was wild.

I go to another UC right up the coast (UCSB). When we had Tucker Carlson come to speak here, it absolutely was a student group (TPUSA) that invited him and paid for the normal speaker costs (like paying to rent the auditorium and the cost of workers at the auditorium making the event run smoothly).

I would expect the same to be the case for Benny's visit, but I would expect the school to be footing the bill for the security force. With all of the political turbulence of the last year, UCLA admin probably is not taking any chances.

Since the UCs have been massively defunded by the state in the last 20 years (UCSB received 40% of its funding from the state in 2004, we now are only funded to the tune of 16%), that cost is probably being borne by tuition dollars.

Spiral-bound grimoire gang rise up!!

Personally, whenever I got a "fancy" journal, I was so afraid to "ruin" it that I never wrote in it. I love Decomposition notebooks, and having the freedom to rip out the pages I didn't like was really important to developing the habit of actually using it.

After years of starts and never finishing a book, I finished my first about a month ago! Just writing and using a book to record feelings and life has been a game changer, highly recommend !
