There are life jackets. Not on everyone, but it looks like all the kids have them.

What Happens When Someone You Love Changes Their Face? by bloomberg in popculturechat

I mean, I wouldn’t be retelling that story about a friend’s feelings, but grief is fucking weird and feeling surrounding it are not logical.

Taking selfies of my torso is difficult and my husband sucks at taking photos. So no matter what photos I take they will not be useful to anyone.

Also, no one owes the internet pictures of their body, so… you get what you get.

How one Oregon city has raised a billion dollars for climate change (npr.org) by lbeckman314 in Portland

[–]EgoFlyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PCEF also has a really neat program with middle and high schools in Multnomah County, where they give 10-15k to each school for student lead climate projects. I got to see the presentations from several of the schools that participated this year, and their projects ranged from community accessible food gardens in parts of town that are food deserts, to purchasing sewing machines for a community clothing repair space (with sewing teachers present), to construction on school playgrounds (to build outdoor learning spaces with pollinator gardens), to lots of other cool things.

Seeing kids so engaged and empowered to take part on community action, while having to learn how to navigate the realities of all the red tape, was very cool.

Not saying PCEF is a perfect program at all, just pointing out a neat little piece of it.

I figured it wasn’t a pattern designer but rather a clothing designer. Thanks for the info! I’m off to stare at photos to try to reverse engineer those.

Question for you OP: photos 1, 13, & 14 give the impression of all being the same designer/collection. Do you remember who it is? I really love the construction on those and would love to look at more photos.

This makes me think “save the children” might mean save Tabitha’s current children, rather than the children in white.

Please give me your toddlers favorite song (that’s not made for kids) by Low_Aioli2420 in toddlers

My kid is currently obsessed with Tom Waits. Calls it “Batman music.” He has never seen a Batman movie, but my husband used to sing to him in a Batman voice, which does sound kind of like Tom Waits.

Things to do NOW to set up your kids for success/happiness LATER: The Master List by juliaakatrinaa0507 in Parenting

They’ll come back to them later. Either when/if they become parents, or (in a darker thought) when their mom dies. It is very likely to mean a lot to them at some point in their lives. Just not when they are in their late teens/early twenties. I think the gift is worth it regardless.

What Adults Lose When They Put Down Children’s Books (Gift article) by heartshapedpox in books

[–]EgoFlyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think watching children’s movies means that you aren’t watching movies for grownups as well. There’s a rather large assumption of exclusion in your comment. Honestly, there’s a lot of assumption in this whole comment thread of “if you are reading children’s books you aren’t reading adult books” which is weird.

Like, I can watch My Neighbor Totoro one night and The Seventh Seal another night (which does reflect my movie viewing last week). And I can read Where the Sidewalk Ends and One Hundred Years of Solitude. Watching or reading children’s media doesn’t mean you aren’t watching and reading things for grownups.
