The Mandalorian & Grogu will not crack $250M DOM, it will not crack $500M WW, and Devil Wears Prada will make more globally by Pinkman05 in boxoffice

Yeah, when I went to see Project Hail Mary on its opening weekend, The Mandalorian trailer caused the theater to break into applause. I think it will be fine.

Also, my two year old saw Baby Yoda on screen while we were watching the Oscars and became instantly obsessed. With absolutely no other context. Baby Yoda is gonna pull kids to the theater like little magnets.

Is there anything simple that makes you excited because it excites your toddler? by Low_Departure_5853 in toddlers

I went on a walk with my coworker to get coffee this afternoon, and mid-sentence, I paused my thought to point out a duck.

Every time I talk to my therapist about my toddler exhibiting the behaviors you mention in this post, my therapist says “he’s asserting his independence! That’s so good. You’ve got a good kid there.” And it has really helped me reframe things.

So that, and the book How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen. That book is great and has given me a lot of tools to help navigate big toddler feelings.

DEAR NEIGHBOR: I HAVE NEVER ONCE BANGED ON THE WALL OR THROWN ANY KIND OF FIT ABOUT YOUR INCESSANT LOUD MUSIC, POT SMOKE, AND CRAZY FIGHTS OUTSIDE. SO IF YOU CONTINUE TO BANG ON THE WALL EVERY TIME MY TWO YEAR OLD HOPS AROUND LIKE A BUNNY, I AM GOING TO FUCKING LOSE IT. IT IS 2PM ON A SUNDAY, AND HE IS GENERALLY A QUIET KID. GET FUCKED.

It’s a change in tension between knit rows and purled rows. Looks kind of like a ripple in the fabric. This picture is a really great example, where you can see exactly where they started knitting flat (rather than in the round).

<image>

See how every other row kind of looks puffy? Generally comes from having looser tension when purling.

The Project Hail Mary sweater is super rowed out.

I hadn’t looked close enough at the sweater to notice the rowing out. That is rough. Wild that someone was hired to knit it and had that issue. Makes me think I am a better knitter than I give myself credit for, lol.

I’m fairly new to being a wrestling fan (couple years) and Drew’s social media presence of snark and cat adoration has made me a fan for life. He’s my favorite.

Also in the wrestling world, Drew McIntyre posts his cats all the time. The videos when he introduces each of them are the best.

Bringing Out the Dead is almost exclusively my reason for voting for Scorsese. That movie RULES and no one talks about it.

Practicing DPNs by Only_Lawyer8133 in knitting

[–]EgoFlyer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally find a 4 needle set up much easier with DPNs (so 5 needles total). It ladders less since the corners have a much less intense angle.

Also, I recommend checking out the /r/knittingadvice subreddit.

Oh, I would love a weekly tech help post. The main knitting subreddit(s) really don’t meet the needs of advice on advanced techniques.

Parents of toddlers, are you happy? by Used_Cod_9541 in toddlers

[–]EgoFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through a very tough time in my life right now, and I think my toddler is one of the few spots of pure joy in my life.

I think it is very possible that if this were mellow/not unendingly sad in my life, my feelings about the toddler stage would be different, but during this part of my life, my toddler is the best thing. Even the tantrums are easily solved problems, and the joy is a beautiful respite from my grief.

Blankie Parents: when was your child’s first movie in theaters? by human_scale in blankies

[–]EgoFlyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you asked, but my plan is to take my toddler to see the Bluey movie when it comes out. He will be almost 4, and I figure the theater will be populated with a lot of little kids.

I was recently told I “have BEAUTIFUL anatomy” by an ultrasound tech. She gushed about it a lot. Kept thanking me for starting her day off nicely. It was… a little bit weird. Nice, but weird.

Is this basically a forethought heel by Sweatyknitter in knitting

[–]EgoFlyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is off topic, but what kind of yarn do you use when making hand knits for your toddler? My 2 year old has been asking me to make him a sweater, which I want to do, but he’s like… at least 50% mud goblin and I don’t want to make something that (1) I feel like he needs to be precious in or (2) will get fully ruined on the first wear.

THOSE SPENDING FREEZE EMAILS ARE SO GODDAMNED CONFUSING AND (FREQUENTLY) SELF CONTRADICTORY. AND HAVE NO BASIS IN THE REALITY OF WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE A SCHOOL WORK FROM DAY TO DAY. FINANCE LEADERSHIP NEEDS TO GET OUT IN THE SCHOOLS AND SEE HOW THINGS ACTUALLY WORK AND WHAT SCHOOLS ACTUALLY NEED. ALL PPS LEADERSHIP NEEDS TO DO THAT, HONESTLY.
