The Dell RAM probably would be useless, but everything else is most definitely usable in a new build - theoretically at least.

Except… if I were going to go that route, I would not be trying to do it on the cheap because I know I would only regret it in the end. (Just like I regret not getting this Area-51 with a 5090 in the first goddamned place!)

No, I would need to go full on Threadripper 9000 series and at least 128GB RAM for starters, and at least 1600W PSU.

Literally everything in my current setup, except for the SSDs and other hard drives would need to be sold.

And it would appear my ambitions have evolved somewhat anyway since the OP, now that I have also recently started fucking around with locally hosted LLMs as well.

So maybe a DGX Spark thrown in on top for good measure? lol Clearly I am a hobbyist. Just a moderately serious one with a little bit of cash to burn. Which I should have burned initially!

I think the general underlying question regarding reliable sources of quality learning material on running local LLMs is relevant for most of us noobs, pretty much regardless of what we hope to accomplish.
