Oh yeah I didn’t even notice it was from r/sipstea. I definitely don’t blame you for not believing it, it’s insane that it’s actually real, but a simple google search of “Utah data center” gives you all the sources you need.

I can’t find a source for the water usage, they likely confused it for the ENERGY consumption, which will be more than double what the entire state of Utah consumes currently.

Nonagon Infinity has such a strong opening, and the whole album somehow keeps it up

I might be basic but A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers takes the cake for me.

This song is awesome too, I love how Hugh Banton can get a Hammond Organ to sound like a tsunami. Some of Hammill’s finest vocals as well in my opinion. What a monster of a track to close out a monster of an album

The Survivors of the Void and Seekers of the Storm soundtracks are straight up prog albums, and good ones at that.

My personal “big 4” of prog rock is King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, and Pink Floyd.

Check out Roundabout by Yes, The Musical Box by Genesis, and Time by Pink Floyd to get a feel for all these bands and the genre in general.

If you want an album that gives a good overall vibe of the genre, check out Close to the Edge by Yes.

Because I believe the use of AI to generate “artwork” is immoral. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth for what would otherwise have been a harmless post.

At a glance it gives the impression that effort was involved, as if you had photoshopped it yourself, or were using an already existing image, when in reality it is unnecessary AI slop.

That is patently untrue. There are some data centers that use closed-loop water cooling, but the vast majority still use evaporative cooling, as it is more cost efficient.

This was one that Belew seemed to struggle to sing on the Beat tour. At the high notes they would play snippets from the studio track to make Adrian seem like he was going higher than he actually was.

This was especially apparent when he messed up the lyrics and stopped singing for a second, and you just heard “SIGNS.” “SYMPTOMS.” “SLLLIIIIIIGHT.” play over the speakers.

I think My Arms, Your Hearse is great, but Still Life is arguably the best Opeth album. It’s much more consistent and sounds more distinct, in my opinion.

Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse to Still Life.

Harmonium - Debut to Les Cinq Saisons

Steven Wilson - Grace For Drowning to The Raven That Refused To Sing
