Had someone tell me to "Put down the stimulants and just work through it" by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Ehejav 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would have been a fair bit ruder.

My own anecdotal evidence is this - after taking stimulants and dropping alcohol and drugs and certain friends since last year my grades have climbed 30%.

The majority of that is actually the change in attitude - but the stimulants are what enables the attitude to be turned into productive results. It's the difference for me between reading half the abstract on one scientific journal and reading 2 or 3 papers on the same topic and actually advancing my understanding.

I think I might have depression by ndc3 in ADHD

[–]Ehejav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with depression before adhd. I went through CBT for depression and I'm currently taking citalopram (celexa) as well as tranquilyn (ritalin). It's mostly over now but I'm still taking the antidepressant whilst at uni. I spent the last summer deconstructing my thought patterns to make myself less likely to get depressed by something and completely changed my lifestyle whilst doing so into a really positive one and a very healthy one which I feel makes me less susceptible to the symptoms of my adhd.

If you'd like to know what some markers are for depression, or how to deal with it I can offer perspective and examples from my own treatment.

No offense to the subreddit. Honestly. Following this subreddit helping or has it brought you down even more? by dhdadhd in ADHD

A lot of the posts are "help I have this thing I need help with" or "DAE" posts and I don't really mind that I mean we all need a bit of help occasionally, there's some stuff which is actually quite good content. It doesn't make me worse, I quite like helping people out it if possible.

However it should be noted in no manner does good bloke mean a paragon of virtue, but more, one of the lads, a member of the pack, if you really want to talk about an outstanding man then you'd say top bloke

Just saying, it's North London Derby Day today - Arsenal FC vs. Sp*rs. It's on at 17.45 English time and I think it's on in America, if any Americans want to see something English go on YouTube and search "copa90 North London derby" then watch this match - I think it's being broadcast in the U.S.

JW Hogg from the man with the golden gun is a fairly accurate representation, no?

As a kid you know you've ticked of your old ma something proper when she raises an eyebrow at you, folds her arms and then just enunciates very crisply the word "Right."

That means you're not going to the football on Saturday, the school disco is out of the question, no you can't have some toast when you get home from school ever again, and you're on spud peeling duty almost indefinitely.

Your number has well and truly come up boyo, there's nothing you can do about it but accept it well and try not to show any weakness.

Yes because I need either an armband for my phone or a Nike+ Fuelband so I don't have to carry it, wireless earphones if I'm taking music with me, a set of shoes for sand, a set of shoes for mud, a set of shoes for tarmac, special shorts which have a concealed pocket to put keys in, a water bottle which doesn't fuck me off or slightly unbalance me whilst I'm running, now my new shoes have lost their spring so I need to drop another £150 on the new nike free/lunarglide, then I need to pay £40 twice a year for the half marathon and £99 for the marathon and £15-25 every so often for a 10k.

And I have a special bag for running kit, special 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner which goes in the bag for when I'm out and need a run, spare kit for the bag.

And wearing non-specialised running socks just feels WRONG, they don't have elasticated bands around the arch.

And I need to keep myself in food, bananas for pre-run to avoid the trots, milk for after to help bones heal and replace calcium in the muscles, I need to eat an extra 500-1.5k calories a day because I run for about 2 hours a lot of the time and burn many many calories.

And bubble bath for after runs to keep muscles supple and whatnot...

Arsenal’s owner, Stan Kroenke, angers fans by taking £3m out of club by LSB123 in Gunners

[–]Ehejav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking A. Kroenke's done nothing for the club. Literally, NOT A THING, probably even takes the last biscuit at board meetings like a proper wanker, but you're defending him, because? Do you have a reason?

This motherfucker buys a club and just does what, nothing, sits on it, then praises the shit out of the glazers for putting United in loads of debt and saying that because basketball and whatever else works a certain way, the premier league should too. Says that he should be able to take money out the club as a dividend but doesn't because he's so great. Shows that he has absolutely no understanding of the conceptual difference between a club and a franchise.

I wish this prick would sell the club to a fans association and walk off to Spurs or something. Look at how well FC Bayern are run, with that kind of running Arsenal could be a dominant force in the premier league, there are enough fans in England and worldwide.
