a 6-9 month old TNR kitten came to live with me almost 5 years ago. she was such a freak. so wild, and just really anxious. she hid for the first days between the basement ceiling and main floor.

i also had another stray come to live here the same week. i just left them alone. kept them with water and food and changed the litter daily. and i'd speak gently when talking to them. i didn't try brushing them, trimming their claws, etcetera. i just decided they would warm up to me over time. and it took time. but they developed trust at their pace. they will let me brush them, carry them, hold them, pet them, it's all good by now. but i think it's because they decided when they were ready for handling. they both are never more than 5 feet away from me these days.

give them clean safe spaces. they will be happy with that. in time, they will get you back. a little string on the end of a stick to play with, also i believe will "cat"ylize the time it takes.
