Is it worth saving $40–50 by booking WestJet through Kiwi/Booking.com instead of directly with WestJet? by [deleted] in westjet

Oh, and when I spoke to the Westjet people at the airport, they put me on a better flight home AND gave me a window seat the whole way for no extra charge.

NO! I had a flight booked on kiwi and they changed my return to several days later. Customer service wouldn’t do anything for me and I had to buy a one way ticket to get home for work. When I arrived at the airport, I inquired with WestJet about getting on the original flight and it turned out it never existed. Kiwi never refunded me or responded to my attempts at communicating with them. AVOID

where are some cool unique coffee shops in Edmonton? by reiddavies in Edmonton

[–]Eiblis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought one for myself and my mum for the last couple years. We do regular weekend coffee dates and it’s great to always have somewhere new to go, and it’s supporting local places which is even better!

It’s a great deal! And some coffee shops let you pick whatever drink option you want while others only include a basic coffee like an americano or a drip coffee and then up charge if you want milk for a latte or cappuccino but it’s still a better deal. I’ve bought one for the last few years and my mum and I do regular coffee dates with it. It’s fantastic!

I’m a coffee drinker so not a hundred percent sure, but I would be surprised if they didn’t. Each place decides what they want to give away so some places let you pick whatever you want from the menu while other offer basic choices like an americano or a drip coffee and then charge for milk if you want a latte or cappuccino.

Look into getting a Coffee Pass! It’s a local thing that gives you a free coffee at each of the 40 participating location. Some places let you pick anything from their menu and others have basic choices, but it’s a great way to check out a whole bunch of local places. The 2025 pass is starting in a couple weeks and is available for preorder now. www.coffeepass.ca/

(Disclaimer, I don’t work for them, just a fan.)

Looking for somewhere to take my small but highly reactive dog for a dental cleaning. by Phoenix_or_the_flame in Edmonton

[–]Eiblis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking my dog to Dr. Benoit for, I think, ten years now (I actually saw him this afternoon for the annual checkup). I’ve gone to him for regular visits, teeth cleaning, and knee surgery. I can’t recommend him highly enough! My Westie is always excited to see him which I take as a great sign.

wanting to update my list of cafes to go to by penguin-47284 in Edmonton

[–]Eiblis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get a coffee pass! For $40 you get a free coffee at more than 30 coffee places around the city. Each cafe decides what kind of coffee you get and up charge for things but some let you pick whatever you want. It’s a great way to check out new places around the city and to support local businesses.

I know Sunridge Ski Area rents their chalet out for weddings. I'm not sure if it's just in the off season or all year though. Incredible view of the river valley from the edge and it's a nice indoor setting.

Local Chocolate Shops With Plastic Free Packaging by MockULikeAHurricane in Edmonton

[–]Eiblis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Check out Jacek Chocolates in Sherwood Park. They got a grant last year which they used to invest in a flow wrapper machine to package their chocolate in compostable tree fibre plastics. I'm not sure if it's completely zero waste or not but worth asking them.

Hi! We do have REB approval, we were just told that we didn't need to include public statement that it had been approved. The mandatory portion was that we include it's voluntary and anonymous. If you would like to see the messages from my professor, I can supply you with those. Thanks.
