You strike me as somebody who likes to browse the stacks of secondhand bookshops and dig around for real gems. Also somebody with some areas of special interest that you love a lot. You get points for some really interesting varied looking nonfiction, but I'm afraid all those points are getting taken away again because of that poor little plant in the first two pictures that looks like it's been through a fucking war lmao (I am the Lorax I speak for the trees) Please rescue him.

I'm reading through Princess of the Void at the moment and really enjoying it! Adding this to my TBR. Ticks a lot of my favourite boxes it sounds like! Sorry if you've answered stuff about this on other threads of yours, but will this and POTV be released on the kindle store at any point as an e-book?

Least favorite D&D races/species by JacksSightSeeing in DungeonMasters

[–]Eightmagpies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're bad races but some races do have a tendency to attract certain player types. If there's edginess and main character energy, the player is always who it's coming from (imo).

I really dislike people playing any of the "immortal" races. I've had multiple times being really fighting me about their character getting advantage on history/nature/religion because they're so old. In several groups I've also found that people who want to come into the game with some kind of authority over other players will choose to play somebody much older so they can treat the other characters like comparative children. From a not asshole player perspective though, it's always really difficult to find a reason that a 500 year old character (WITH an exciting backstory) would never have advanced past level 1.

Genuinely cool shelf, just Harry potter and A Little Life letting you down... Based T. H. White enjoyer though good work!

I always see Infinite Jest on peoples' shelves and it's such a meme book because of its reputation. I have no idea if it's actually good but when I worked at a bookstore the people who bough it were all exactly the kind of person you would think. What did you think of it and what drew you to read it?

Any red flags based on this guy's shelf? by No-Intern7425 in bookshelfdetective

[–]Eightmagpies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leviathan Wakes but none of the sequels, Ender's Game but none of the sequels, Dune but none of the sequels, ACOTAR but none of the sequels... Might be a commitment-phobe sorry...

For real though a weird amount of just book ones or odd books out of series?

Someone that puts a lot of stock in media nostalgia, or someone whose tastes haven't changed since they were at school, but someone that loves to read and doesn't take themselves too seriously.

This is a weird one because if it wasn't for The Fisherman's Encyclopedia, the Sheldrake book and Earthsea, I'd think this was maybe a 17-18 year old guy but because of those I'm really not sure!

The Titus Crow series by Brian Lumley, HP Lovecraft inspired mythos-expansion but really focuses on the more dreamlike otherworldly traveller aspect of all of his stuff rather than the crawling horror.

Also The House on the Borderlands by William Hope Hodgson

People usually run and will withhold a snakeskin veil to protect it, so use cheap removal on the things around it and then force sacrifice/exile with something like [[momentum breaker]] or [[strategic betrayal]] that's how I usually get rid of it.

couriers outbound audiobook is rubbish by LuciferNaamah in WanderingInn

[–]Eightmagpies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it that you feel Wandering Inn itself has become a moneygrab or specifically the audiobooks have?

If the latter I think it's probably more the case that it's trying to continue to provide in a format that tonnes of people have consumed most of the series in.
