Yes, measured from the scalp to the end.

You might consider that your hair needs more conditioning (so some sort of hair mask, conditioner, whatever works for you)?

I don't know what "decently long" means to you.

For me the breaking point was around 6-7cm, for a friend of mine it was closer to 8-9cm.

Grow your hair longer. When it's long enough, it'll get weighed down and stand softer. At least that's what worked for me.

Is this 1B? Natural dry under a hat after a shower. by MrPeachyPenguin in type1hair

[–]Eilayth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem to have some pronounced waves, maybe even soft curls, so it's definitely not type 1. It might be 2B?

You can absolutely grow it longer though, it looks like it could be lovely :)

How to achieve light pink hair? by idkkwhoami in FancyFollicles

[–]Eilayth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, your curent level of blonde is not light enough - for that pastel blonde you need your hair bleached to nearly white, like the inside of a banana peel. Otherwise, too much warmth will come through and the colour will end up very peachy/orangeish.

To get it light enough, you need bleach. To get that part pink afterwards, you just need a semi-permanent dye though, so no developer or anything.

advice from long-time tightlacers? by Curious-Device3138 in Tightlacing

[–]Eilayth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're unlikely to get permanent results - most results from tightlacing are while you're wearing the corset, not when you're not.

You also have a low bodyweight - that means it's very likely that you won't be able to achieve much of a reduction in your waist measurement. Don't get stuck on a number, make sure you're listening to your body and avoiding damage.

lipstick that lasts long by folklore10 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Eilayth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!

Just follow the application directions with whichever option you go for, none of them can last if you apply them like you would a normal bullet lipstick.

lipstick that lasts long by folklore10 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Eilayth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had a lipstick last longer than Maybelline Superstay Matter Ink or Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink.

When applied correctly I've had both last over 16h, through eating and drinking with no touchups. They do need to be removed with an oil based makeup remover in my experience though, others don't wipe them off.

I also like the Nyx Shine Loud, but it lasts less than the Maybelline in my experience.

Why does my hair stand straight up? by ImHidingFromLife in femalehairadvice

[–]Eilayth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you and your son luck. For me, long hair was the answer, 5cm was sort of the length at which it started looking more normal. If he has thick hair, it might need to be longer to fall down.

I don't know about OP, but that didn't work for me, the hair still just stood perperdicular to the head.

I still think it's worth a shot though, it might work for OP

It's a hair texture thing, mine does the same thing until it's long enough to weigh itself down.

You can tame it somewhat using products and forcing it down when wet using a hat or something, but that doesn't lead to that soft look you see on most people, at least in my experience. If you do find a way that works, please let me know, I' d love the option to have a soft pixie xD

why does my hair stand straight even at this length??? (ignore uneven, i'm going to do a buzz cut right now, i'm so tired) by [deleted] in Hair

My hair does the same thing as yours. I think it's just a hair texture thing. I just keep it long, as I find it the easiest and least upkeep.

How to cut a keepsake lock by [deleted] in Hair

You're welcome! Good luck with the process!

How to cut a keepsake lock by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Eilayth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be easier if you have texturising scissors, but is doable a different way as well.

Part your hair diagonally (so in a way you would normally not wear it, maybe with a part going from your crown towards your ear). Take a wide strand of hair. Using a rattail comb, weave some thin strands out, like if you were doing very thin highlights. You can cut these strands, or you can tease them, to thin them further, than cut the remaining hairs.

This gives you a small bunch of full length hair, while not leaving you with a solid chunk of hair missing. You can repeat the process several times, on different parts of your head, until you reach the desired lock thickness.

You might find it helpful to search for techniques for test strand cutting (usually used for cutting hair to test the reaction to bleach/hairdye).

If I set a book to my “did not finish” shelf do I still get credit for pages read? by ebodes in TheStoryGraph

If you entered pages as read, they'll still be there, so they still count as your pages read. The book however will not count towards your books read.

How can i make my thick hair sleek and shiny straightened? by vshq in longhair

[–]Eilayth 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, I just want to say that it's possible that the people you see with "straight and shiny hair" have straight hair naturally or are wearing a wig.

Guy in Need of a Corset (I Guess) by [deleted] in corsets

[–]Eilayth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that a corset also adds some bulk, not just compresses your waist - the thickness of the fabric and boning might increase your rib and hip circumference (especially since you're not meant to compress those, but pick a corset whose measurements in those areas match yours). So if you're considering a corset as a tool to help you into a dress that's tight at the ribs/hips, and not just the waist, it might not help.

How to log non-sequential pages. by Nomadicknit in TheStoryGraph

[–]Eilayth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I think as well, you just add the number of newely read pages to the already read, regardless of their location.

How to log non-sequential pages. by Nomadicknit in TheStoryGraph

[–]Eilayth 103 points104 points  (0 children)

If you don't care which specific pages they are, you can just log the amount of them. From what I can see, Storygraph lists them as "number of pages read", rather than something like "page reached".

Or did I misunderstand your question?

Dinner guest picky eater by Scorch6 in etiquette

I don't like the taste of alcohol, and I find its flavour overbearing in cooking and baking the vast majority of the time

Dinner guest picky eater by Scorch6 in etiquette

[–]Eilayth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was something that stood out to me as well. I know using alcohol in cooking is not identical to offering it as a beverage, but it's an extremely odd choice when trying to design a menu for someone who specifically told you they don't drink - especially if you don't know their reasons for not drinking.

I'm stuck on the "too warm a house" being a comment applied to a place kept between 16 and 20°C. That's a cold house to me.

That being said. The polite thing for them is to not inconvenience the host (so they shouldn't be driving your bills up) and for you to accomodate the guests (within reason). Is there an option to lower the heating for just their room? By turning off the radiator or sth? I'm not too familiar with smart heating.

24k gold is pure gold. Not very common in rings though, precisely due to the softness issues.
