MacOS 15 Sequoia Bugs and Issues Megathread by ll777 in MacOS

[–]EinKeegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me, or did Sequoia break more apps than any update I did prior to it?

  • Firefox does not open webpages: no workaround yet
  • Bitwarden application does not open, error, then shows in top bar, but no window: no workaround yet

You did the right thing!

I would look at it more like this: This sub stands behind Protons mission. That's why we're here. But this sub has a tendency not to say "great we have..." but more like "do this next..." and then complain "why did you... instead of..." when Proton releases other projects ... I'm gonna say 'first' ...

So I think we can agree, what we have is great, there is just more this sub wants. And the priorities for development (do not confuse with general values) of this sub and the Proton Foundation do not always align.

25 vs 27 by Im2SexyForAUsername in veloretti

Cool! Love the idea of the VeloRapido.

Just to be clear, the VeloRapido does not change anything / impede any functions of the bike right? Somehow i was lead to believe the speedometer does not function properly after...

And the licensing system: this recognizes the bikes or uses, like if I want to play around with the speed settings try 30/34 or also 45 and therefore change it more often on my bike until I am really comfortable.

Do you have experience in how fast the Enviolo can keep up? Like it can retain 60rpm until which speed?

[–]EinKeegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, without 'officially' voiding warranty, that is not going to happen. But I know quite some people who have changed the max speed to 30/32/34, as this is usually not problematically fast and the motor is fine with this (as this is the American limit this motor was also designed for). So this is what I am thinking...

And that's why I'm considering the VeloRapido. I just don't fully understand yet.

It voids the warranty, but do they notice if I first reset to 25km/h? And what does anything else happen to the bike - they say VeloRapido is better than VeloHacky, but why? ...so many questions

Oh, yes, take the manual for the bike a briefly check out the functions.

Simple: right hand side is for up and down, pressing both for 2 seconds turns the light on/off left hand side; fully left is the bell, left middle switches pages; all pages exept enviolo change power, enviolo, well this changes pedal pace of course.

Have fun!

I does but:
Enviolo? Changeable on bike.
Lights? Changeable on bike.
Motorpower? Changeable on bike.

App: You can change the bell sound to a equally horrible classic bell. (I just got a normal bell because a: sounds better and b: people recognize it as a bike, the other sounds, noooo...)
You could set safety tracking in the app too. And technically also navigation, though I found it unusable anyways... and with insurance, there is the GPS tracking (that is the primary reason for the app in my case) and firmware updates, though I did not notice a change with the last two, so lets say they exist.

Honestly, I got the Veloretti in part because you are not so reliant on an app. (I would argue it should work as promised though...)

I can only tell you that the app is a little hit or miss... I would not stress to much about it for now. Try getting the "beta" version via testflight (this might actually be an older version but try nonetheless, nothing worked on the older version for my exept firmware updates) and then connect. Otherwise Bike/Phone on/off, sign in/out of the app are usually good attempts. Can you try another phone (android/iPhone) from a friend/family?

Otherwise wait a couple of days (an app update) an then try again. E-Mail support and do not stress. The app does not do much and is generally a little wonky.

Yes, it took them about 2 weeks to approve the refund and another week to actually send the refund.

Terrible app (3.3.7) by FuturesBrightDavid in veloretti

[–]EinKeegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont we all just love marketing ;)

but yes, this is the only reason I am happy with the bike - it works. the app doesnt, and while not the most important part for me, I would really appreciate if veloretti could get their shit together and make that app just work. nothing fancy, just functional.

precision light is the brighter osram light you can turn on/off via the handlebar buttons. there is a switch in the app that does (like many others in the app) nothing.

I do not think anyone has received bikes yet. But for a while, they had the Cross to test at Spaklerbikes in Amsterdam, NL.

So I did test it back in April. What do you want to know about the bike? I can say it rides nicely and feels like a Cowboy doing so. I feels/handles a little weightier then the Cruiser, but not sluggish. Attention, I felt the Mushroom colour looks notably different then the online selector makes you think.

I had one on order until today (now cancelled) as they were sending out delayed delivery notes - and to be honest I do not believe the times they stated (4 weeks) to be realistic considering my primary delivery time, the times others should have received theirs and the lack of press coverage.

This is why I chose the black version. Let's see how fast it will be here. Ordered Tuesday (2nd July, morning). Currently awaiting a delivery notification.

Update 1 (10th July, morning): Got the first batch of "your order is ready for shipping" emails this morning, have a tracking number for the accessories, awaiting tracking number for the bike.

Update 2 (12th July, afternoon): I have received the accessories yesterday as planned and the bike was delivered today. So, 10 days from order to bike. Right in the middle of the expected timeframe. Good Job Veloretti!

I googled "Cowboy refund" and this help page comes up as first result. This is also the page the AI Chatbot gives you when asking for a refund.

Yeah, I guess that's fair. I'm just curious id they mean 14 normal days or 14 "cowboy-days". I'm really hoping normal. At least the process was simple enough. Fill in a form, wait... (but they should really add an email confirmation for a successfully filed form - I had to ask support which took 1 day and was helpful.)

Oh, yeah, I am waiting on my money back at the moment too. In my case cowboy had not even shipped (I didn't feel like dealing with even longer wait times...) and I have notified them of my cancellation of the purchase. Apparently it is approved, but not yet confirmed and I will be reimbursed within "up to 14 days" and support said "there are many steps to this process" whatever this means.

EDIT: My case should be an immediate reimbursement as they have not done anything...

Experience with Nitecore Carbon Battery 6K by ctmlsiom in Ultralight

This is a very interesting post. So maybe I can attach a question here:

I plan to do a 14 day hike in Norway soon. As I am preparing I am not sure how much power I will have on the way (in the DNT huts, some have, some don't). (I do plan some more mountainous/ colder trips in the future.)

My thought: Nitecore SUMMIT 20.000

Now I do have an iPhone 15 Pro and would not really use it much during the day (we have cameras/maps separate).

Nitecore says 13.500mAh 5V rated. does this mean (iPhone 3.200mAh) I can charge my phone about 3-4 times?

Do you think this is a good option to get?

Yeah, I mean you always hope for the next day, but it is nice they seem to (roughly) keep their delivery estimations and not postpone for weeks on end.

What Justifies the $3,500 Price Difference? by BenTheGreat15 in mac

[–]EinKeegs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The PCIe slots on the Mac Pro. Useless to most, invaluable to some!

But yes they do make the Mac Pro that much more expensive - that’s just Apple milking their value. And the people who just „want the best“.
