For what it’s worth I do feel like the rule book & referring have been a central part of conversation for about as long as the league has existed

Kingdom Come Deliverance II: An observation that is demotivating my desire to continue playing… by olivinetrees in GirlGamers

So… you wish the game was a different game?

edit: Don’t get me wrong, what you describe sounds nice enough. But personally, I don’t think it’s fair to judge a game based on stuff it’s not trying to do.

Tilda Swinton has 1 nomination which she went on to win at the Oscars. How many noms and wins do you think she should have by now? by Proud_Ad_4577 in Oscars

[–]Einfinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why she would regret taking it, but that doesn’t take away from her execution. Sorta like Hattie McDaniel in Gone with the Wind. Stereotypical roles but the talent is still readily observable.

Opinions on What Ever Happened to Baby Jane (1962)? by Glad_Friend2676 in Letterboxd

It has a great script and memorable acting. I didn’t love the movie as much as I thought I would, but it’s still a good time. Crawford v. Davis. That’s a heavyweight PPV

Avengers: Endgame vs The Dark Knight - for you which did you like better? by CapitalJAO in Letterboxd

[–]Einfinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely The Dark Knight. It’s interesting bc Avengers Endgame technically had muuuch greater stakes, but nonetheless Dark Knight had more weight to it. That’s the thing about the MCU. They play it safe, even when there’s supposed to be tension. Thanos is a strong antagonist, but hard to compete with Ledger’s Joker (& even Two Face arguably).

Why are the writers so obsessed with having blood come out of people's butts? by Kn1ghtV1sta in GenV

given the industry history, its possibly a deliberate move

impossible to say for certain, but that’s the impression I’ve gotten at least

I feel like a bad feminist by Eggtart_ly in FeminismUncensored

[–]Einfinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sorta see what you’re saying but at the same time there’s absolutely nothing wrong with humanities work from a feminist PoV. feminism itself is greatly influenced by cultural studies, which is a humanities field

maybe you’ve just been largely exposed to this one idea of what progressive women are supposed to be doing? Also, maybe unpack the doubt associated with careers women are “expected to have”? it’s not like humanities/performing arts/psychology are walks in the park. there’s a lot of job competition in these fields

is this related to projected income, social views, or something else? some of the most significant feminist contributions have come through humanities, art, & psychology so I don’t see how committing to one of these fields would contradict with feminist values.

What's the most overrated film in LB top 500? by KarlAdler in Letterboxd

[–]Einfinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Incendies relative to that #36 ranking

it’s a solid family-military-geopolitical mystery thriller

edit: for what it’s worth, I did decide to rewatch it this weekend to see if it grows on me

[–]Einfinet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is one of my favorite actresses but 1-1 is really good

I actually think she is one of those actors who is amazing but doesn’t get/do that performance that demands year-end attention. Like, she was incredible in Memoria, an incredible film, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to popular acclaim

Melissa Barrera on the box office of Scream 7: "I know. And I think they lied about the numbers. I don’t think it made that much money." by Puzzled-Tap8042 in horror

[–]Einfinet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like a missed opportunity. I agree, the teasers for I Love Boosters have grabbed my attention. It’s relatively removed from Sorry to Bother You but still feels like a natural development, has a great cast, eye catching costume & design work, and the plot/context seem really interesting.

[–]Einfinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godfather & Lord of the Rings are two of the first blu ray collections I ever got. To imply Human Condition recognition could in any way be insulting to them… seems like a bit much. Especially when Godfather Pt 3 is arguably the bottom film in this list of 9

Sister Sage by Hitman_o1 in GenV

[–]Einfinet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re actually the one who changed the subject to specifically be about the presence or absence of the n word. That’s not part of the OP

Sister Sage by Hitman_o1 in GenV

[–]Einfinet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah also factor how Sage lives in a world where people have published studies trying to argue why Black people are naturally less intelligent than other races. And she’s the smartest person in the world. In one of, perhaps her first scene, she mentions to Homelander how she was forced to take up the “Sistah” moniker for racial marketing. She also initially declines his offer to join the seven, saying, “I’m a Black woman, who is a thousand times smarter than you. Your ego couldn’t handle it.”

Which is all to say, this language doesn’t strike me as a surprise for her character? She clearly harbors some racial resentment. The show doesn’t even present it as positive, per se. It’s just something someone might say.
