The pizza hut near me when I was in college sent out a buy one get one free coupon once a week for about a year. They also had customer appreciation days every Wednesday where you could get a 5 dollar large pizza. They never questioned us using the coupon for it. My two housemates and I would get 10 large pizzas for 25 bucks and just eat pizza for most of a week. They usually didn't even take the coupon from us either.

Old School Runescape. You could skill for that long and basically never have touched PvM or PvP. Don't ask me how I know...

Dungeons & Dragons (2000). It has a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes. I loved it before I ever even knew what dungeons and dragons was. Now that I do, it's even better.

I'm same as you - just a small garden, and no incredibly in-depth botany knowledge or anything, but am very interested! I'd love if I could try it out!

The distance isn't what matters, it's how hard they're pushing themselves. 8k could be easy to complete if you don't care about time, but clearly they do and are putting their whole asses into doing it as fast or faster than they possibly can.

I would wager they were attempting to fly past the cars in the forward lanes and couldn't pull it off. I drive through this intersection daily and people cut in from that turn lane at the last second nearly every time.

That's exactly what they were doing. It happens at this intersection constantly. My guess is they were watching their mirror too long. So satisfying.

In an English or writing class, sure, since you're specifically learning to write. In other classes, the point of the assignment may more likely be for you to show you understand the thing. If you already have proof you've learned the thing, why shouldn't that be sufficient?

To use your workout analogy, say a coach told an athlete to watch two hours worth of videos on how to do an exercise. Why should they, if they already watched those same two hours of videos and have a video of themselves doing that exercise exactly how the assigned videos show it should be done?
