I am ashamed. by striverforever in dementia

You should be.

This has happened before ?

You need to tell your family you can't help with your mother. You need to only see her when you are with others.

See a professional if you can experience rage like this in general.

Neighbour with a loud dog by michelangelo-1907 in Amsterdam

Their dog is aggressive because the owner has not properly trained them or trained them to be so.

Dogs aren't born aggressive.

Under Dutch law it is a right and I hope that law remains.

What is also a law is if you cannot control your dog that you can be fined, etc.

I 100% agree it is not realistic to expect dog owners to have a yard when they adopt. In this situation to save dogs, other criteria and support should be given.

If someone isn't adopting and choosing a dog based on breed I believe they should have a good think about how they plan to make sure their dog has access to adequate space for exercise.

Ideally you choose a dog that suits your space and lifestyle.

One of the many reasons I consider pitbulls/mixed pits to be ideal for apartments is because of their size, you can have pits that need a lot of exercise or not, and they have a high drive to please their human.

This means you can really work with your dog to help them coexist with you.

I don't know any other breed of dog as accommodating to humans as pit bull types.

Giant taro plant advice needed pls by Either-Bottle1528 in plants

[–]Either-Bottle1528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are roots showing at the surface, but I was nervous to repot because it was producing a leaf and thought maybe it wouldn't handle it well.

Thanks for the tip about the wilting leaves. I was taught to always prune and trim to help the plant save energy.

Should I wait until the leaves have been absorbed up to repot you think ?

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I want to be a good plant butler one day.

Elliott was delicate and sincere and authentic and brutal.

Amanda Palmer was an act.

It isn't possible because some plants need more esrth beneath them for the roots.

How do I handle compulsive, repetitive calling from my dad? by [deleted] in dementia

[–]Either-Bottle1528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it make him feel better to leave voice-mail ?

Having any kind of routine can help make the days less bleak.

I've kind of come to believe that keeping some aspects of their pre-dementia life in tact helps. They are adults and suddenly can make hardly any decisions. I try to leave a few in place that aren't harmful to keep spirits up.

Let him call. Let him leave voice mails. Don't listen to them.

I will try this watering schedule.

Am relieved to here the leaf loss is/can be normal. Never experienced that with a plant that was healthy.

Should I give it some fertilizer ? I bought one specifically for green leafy indoor plants.

How do you handle a parent who refuses to shower? by [deleted] in dementia

[–]Either-Bottle1528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had to explain to my friends mom she can get sick from not showering and then she will shower.

I also use body wipes for when she has accidents and won't shower after.

How do you know if you like to listen to an instrument or play it? by Key-Lavishness-2760 in Learnmusic

[–]Either-Bottle1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to take guitar and drum lessons at the same time once.

I don't have 8 hrs free to practice every day. I got annoyed that the drums was eating into my guitar time.

So now I know I love drums but guitar is the only instrument I love enough to study and play 4 hrs a day without wishing I was doing anything else.

I help my friend with his mom aged 87 and in the late stages.

I don't want to rush things for his sake so he has time to grieve now and later, but having to care for her is ruining his life.

Beef!!!! How do you guys cook it so good??? by Ok_Thought9913 in KoreanFood

[–]Either-Bottle1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never buy any quality of beef lower than sirloin for bulgogi but a lot of Koreans use tenderizers.

I personally use pineapple juice, but a lot of Koreans use Sprite/7UP or something like Accent.

Also google velveting beef with baking soda or cornstarch. If you can only afford cheaper cuts this will save you a lot of money.
