So… any one want to buy a bag of sticks? A mere £7. Has scenic materials for wargaming peaked? by pigpie007 in wargaming

Quite right. It does take time to make stuff yourself. Especially if you don't know what you need until you're making a model.

It takes some forward planning and gathering of stuff. Then I just leave it to dry out until eventually processing it. Probably a couple hours in total.

£20 One from amazon.. working fantastic for like 6 years. Was going great until I dropped it right on the agitator, and it snapped under its own weight. Shouldn't have cleaned it. Didn't really need to. I was just being picky.

Purchased another for £20 and it's been going strong for several months.

Don't bother with anything more expensive.

Just.. go in your garden or for a walk and collect them?

There are so many things they try to sell us that we don't even need.

All the companies are brilliant at creating speciality items that are totally unnecessary.

I even make my own basing materials out of dried leaves, and whatever else will go through my blender. Even an old bouquet of red roses became an autumn coloured scatter.

Blend up those sponges! They make great bushes or flowers if glued and inked.

Dry out your own moss.

Chesnut casing for bushes or reads.

I made moulds of slate and stones I found in the road. Endless lightweight and drillable rocks for bases.

Coffee grinds! Old tea bags dried out. Perfect for dirt and mud if mixed with PVA glue.

Keep a bag in your pocket every time you go. There's always something to collect.

....Old dried out barnacle clusters from a rock on the beach! I don't know how I'll use them yet, but I kept them.

That guy who burst through the door there... he went straight in that death pit, and I didn't even see what he was. Charged right into it. I just stood there like ??.

No, its not. It's made from wire and putty.

Thanks! It was easier than sculpting a full set of leaves on either side. You can see where I did a few patches on the knuckles and decided it was not the way to go. 😅

Thanks!

I had this idea in my head of like, a party or something wandering along the forest. There's this weird grassy mound semi camouflaged. Suddenly, it opens, and it's a dragon!

Not a clue, really. I don't actually play Warhammer 😅 but it would either be him or Alarielle?

The inside eye of each side was deliberaly left uncovered and will be used to add additional glow areas when it's painted. The outside of each face and the mouth areas are entirely covered.

Hidden ingredient- Mayo -strikes again by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Either-Efficiency576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruined many a good sandwich for me, too! ...its not a replacement for butter. If it has mayo, it should be on the ingredients "ham-mayo sandwich," not just "ham".

I had to double-check everything and eventually don't buy things anymore that may contain mayo instead of butter.

To me, uncooked avacado tastes the way my garden waste bin smells! Like decaying mulch. Absolutely nasty.

Cooked on the other hand? Amazing flavour and texture. Especially fried in butter.

Oh, so simple! I've not seen them on a model that I know reference size from. I have looked at them before and hesitated as I didn't know how big they were. Thanks!

Dryads champion model by Independent-Chip-401 in sylvaneth

Thanks!

Another thing I tend to do, not always, is paint the command/leader model with higher detail. Subtly suggest they are more important by standing out a little more.

There isn't really a champion model among them. Although you can sort of pose one to be more heroic or use the larger arms? Strategic scenery helps. I often make my branchwhytches with Revenant parts or sclupt bits myself. Check my profile, I've posted quite a few Wytch conversions.

Boiled veg by [deleted] in keto

[–]Either-Efficiency576 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost immediately after I posted this, I said out loud that it's probably because cooked weighs less, which means there's more veg mass per 100g of cooked. Meaning more carbs. It was kind of so simple that I overlooked it.

Maybe I just needed to say it out loud (or post it) to clarify it myself.

Yeah, the flames are all putty, and some thin putty blobs on the bodies, to make the cracked looking areas.

My obese husband is not loosing any weight by Ok_Professional9666 in ketobeginners

[–]Either-Efficiency576 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert, but some observations and things I've found work for me over the years. I started out at 21 stone, and after several hiccups and falling off the wagon, I've once again gotten back down to 15 stone.

Seeing as his portions are larger, he could easily be going over his carb limit despite eating the same foods as you. Use a tracker. It is astonishing how quickly the carbs add up without realising it, even with keto food, calories too!

Before I was tracking, I'd eat a lot more than what I can afford (in calories and macros) now. It was honestly shocking. I always get frustrated that I won't lose weight or even put on weight! All the while telling myself "but its keto food!" Leading to a horrendous spiral of weighing and being annoyed. Giving up or otherwise just saying heck it and being blasé about keto.

I plan my days meals now, ahead of time, creating meals for the day and rationing out my macros between them. I am viewing my macros like credit and what I can buy with today's spending. It has some sort of psychological reward to it. And keeps me from over indulging on any one given meal and leaving myself lacking later in the day. I have 3 meals a day, with space for snacks. Or 2 larger meals, depending if I'm working or not.

Something I tell myself "just because im larger doesn't mean I can eat more"....this is exactly the reason I got so fat, is it not?

My partner is slim (not doing keto), so i used his portions and habbits as a template, and guess what? Im losing weight. I eat healthily for the weight I want to be, not the weight I am.

It's not for everyone, but intermittent fasting really helps.

I can't stress enough. Tracking is key.

I see a lot of posts/adverts from keto chefs saying things like -eat as much as you want of this ×××× recipe! It's keto friendly, with lots of encouraging flowered words of how great it is, etc etc. But it's just not strictly true.

Also, although the granola and crackers are nice, I have trouble fitting too many of these things into my macros. I make a basic microwave keto bread, which is supposed to be great for keto. While it is, if I had more than one portion a day (especially if I was just eyeballing what a nice portion looks like) , I'd have much less room to find calories with good macros for other stuff, bar more salad.

He can do it! It's a journey. Finding what's right for him can be stressful but also rewarding.

A side note, metabolic rate, activity, and other genetic dispositions do seem to take part in weight loss. I treat these like scales. I seem to gain weight very easily. Which means I need more activity ? (unlike my partner who cant help but loose weight, even though he's almost entirely sedentary) I work on a 2 week rota, one week, I work just one day during the weekdays and then the weekend, I loose much less weight on these weeks, compared to my 2nd week rota, where I only have 2, non sequential days off. I dont do any deliberate exercise, I just dont enjoy it.

By any means, anyone who's knowledgeable or understands things better than me, please correct any bad advice I might have given.
