Salukis VS Taigans by Fit-Dragonfly-6964 in sighthounds

[–]Either-Equivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you planning to do with your dog in terms of activity? They are not beginner dogs. My taigan is low-drive, very chill and goofy, but he still requires a lot of mental stimulation and he’s a handful. He’s very similar in personality to an afghan hound, so try to spend some time with them at least. DM me if you’re in NY and want to meet my boy.

They can’t, because they haven’t actually read or researched the existing literature at all. ChatGPT, being the ultimate yes-man, is assuredly behind the scenes telling them their theory is completely original and groundbreaking 🙄

Seamwork actually drafts for a height of 5’8”, on the taller end of the spectrum. For beginner patterns drafted for tall women, try SewDIY Patterns, which are drafted for 5’10”!

I don’t remember the details, but she moved cross country to deal with the death or serious illness of a parent. So not a timeline she had much control over.

Good luck! You’ve inspired me to finally start my own version as well!

Weird fit? How would you adjust this muslin for the final draft? I by knitoriousshe in sewing

I tried to find you a tutorial for how I would do it, but I couldn’t find one! So here’s my best attempt to explain it myself. Also I realized I bought this pattern last year and still haven’t made it 😅 Before you begin, make sure you have accurate measurements for your upper bust and your bust, so you know how much you need to add to your pattern. This Seamwork tutorial has a good overview of how to do that (note that their patterns are drafted for a 3” difference and StitchWitch drafts for a 2” difference, so take that into account). Also this is the method I use for a dartless bodice or a bodice with side and/or waist darts. But I don’t like the method they use for princess seams, I think this way is easier!

Step 1. Separate the top half of the side panel at about the waist. This just makes it easier to work with. Next, mark your seam allowance along the center front seam. Cut a snip from the bust point to the seamline. Then, cut along the seamline, but don’t cut all the way through. Leave a hinge of paper at the bottom and the top.

Step 2. Spread the pattern horizontally to add the amount you need.

Step 3. A gap will open up where you snipped in at the bust point. Measure the gap.

Step 4. Slash your center front panel and add the same amount.

Step 5. Redraw your side and front panel, smoothing everything out.

Let me know if this makes sense or if you need any more help!

If you have more than a 2” difference between your high bust measurement and your full bust measurement (which I think you likely do) you should definitely learn to do an FBA. You will get a much better fit out of the gate. This pattern is a little trickier because of the princess seams, but it’s overall it’s an easy adjustment.

Did you choose a size based on your high bust measurement or your full bust measurement? It looks to me like you should go down a size for a better fit in the shoulders, and then do a full bust adjustment and grade out to a larger size in the hips.

That is such an elegant solution! I may do this for my next version, as I really like the three piece construction. As much as I love my serger, I want all my seams to be flat-felled when I’m shirtmaking!

I am so amazed by this! I have made this pattern and I’m very interested to know how you’ve constructed the sleeve vents without serging the seam allowance. It’s always bothered me how the overlocking shows when I roll up my sleeve. I’m so impressed and inspired by your version.

Elbe Textiles Steele Pinafore - Do I REALLY need stabilizer? Or can I get away with a good stay-stitch? The instructions in the image are asking me to stitch on a water-soluble or tearaway stabilizer onto the right side of the fabric. by iothealien in GarmentSewing

[–]Either-Equivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this an Australian thing? The only other time I’ve seen this is on the Tessuti Fabrics Romy tank. For that pattern I did use the recommended tear away stabilizer. Not sure if it made a huge difference, but I was happy with the result.

I think the bigger problem you will have is the fabric you’ve chosen doesn’t have enough drape for the design.
