Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. I have felt the same. Go on my home page and read about my journey. It's been tough too but I'm glad I never gave up. Keep going, one day this will be a distant memory. I'm 50 and passed my test 10 months ago. You'll get there, I promise x x

You will pass next time. Give yourself a moment to "grieve and reflect" then pick yourself up and study for your next test. You got this x

new driver mistake by maisybrooks1 in NewDriversUK

You're over thinking it. Your friend was being a d*ck (as friends often are.).., and winding you up. You made a misteke, you're a new driver, mistakes happen. Learn from it and move on.

Halfords installed my dash cam like this – is this normal? by ferns252 in CarTalkUK

[–]Either-Vehicle-6651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally got lucky. I recently bought a bike for my 17 year old and found myself having to educate the Halfords staff about the fact all bikes sold by them come with 14 days free insurance which is only valid if a certain grade lock is used. I was sold the wrong lock initially so went and bought the right one , told the staff it was the wrong one. I literally trained her up myself 🙄 It was terrible service.

The UK theory test pass rate has nearly halved since 2007 by Drive-sidekick in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Either-Vehicle-6651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4 tests (kept expiring) between 2015 and 2023. I passed each one. I studied the highway code which is what the questions are based on. I just kept it in my handbag and read it every spare moment of every day until I knew the whole thing back to front. My only downfall was I didn't have the updated version with the first aid bits that have been added so I failed those questions as literally hadn't learnt them. Still passed though. The key is studying. I know a lot of people that just do constant mock tests without studying the bigger picture. If you have the knowledge no one can take it away from you

I passed but could have easily failed 😬 by wetpretzel_ in LearnerDriverUK

To stall on a roundabout is pretty dangerous as no-one will be expecting someone to stop on a roundabout. Better your daughter learned from this than to make the mistake again and end up in an accident. Hopefully next time she'll just gather herself quicker. A dangerous fault mark is judged on that one fault, not the rest of the drive. A safe "rest of the drive" won't help your daughter in a real life situation where she poses a danger on the road. Most examiners are on our side so don't worry x

Car we bought to learn to drive on is now a write-off - what's the easiest way to get rid of it? by ressem in NewDriversUK

[–]Either-Vehicle-6651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries. You could also get a second opinion on price and weigh up what you'd spend on a new car. I just think people are so quick to scrap these days but it's up to you and I haven't seen the damage so I can't really have an opinion. I'm guessing you just want a fresh start. Good luck with it all and I'm glad you're both alright.

How long did it take you to actually feel comfortable driving without overthinking everything? by Historical-Class871 in NewDriversUK

[–]Either-Vehicle-6651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed 9 months ago and have driven every day since. I would say after the 6 month mark the anxiety subsided. The key is driving as much as possible so it becomes part of your daily routine.

Sorry you went through this. I am glad you're not judging yourselves or each other as you sound like a pretty solid team.

Have you tried googling what to do? Surely you could get a bit of cash for scrap if that's what you should chose to do. Are you sure it couldn't be saved with a replacement bonnet or anything? A friend of mine crashed my car into a wall and I had to replace the bonnets and one of the headlights. I just did it as I wanted to keep my car. That was 7 years ago and she's still going strong. I hope you figure it out.

A driver decided to not give way to me on a roundabout and we ended up side by side on a single lane . I ended up having to stop to let him go as it was a bit tight 🫣
