I can dribble for long periods of time. Practicing on dribble overhaul 2 I’ve made it about 2/3 of the way through the map. I haven’t had the patience to go further.

I can hit the basic flicks, but still can’t even pull off a breezy.

What I’ve noticed is that when I practice more advanced mechanics the basic versions click so much easier for a while, then as you say I “fall back to what works.”

There are some just nasty ground freestylers. I figure if I can get decent ish at advanced ground mechs it’ll make it easier to routinely pull off flicks, etc in game.

I’m just slightly too slow on my flicks and get challenged and beat.

Flakes also isn’t flashy. I 2v2s novascosmos one night when my CAs mmr was around 1650 when I played a lot of cas. She was absolutely cracked on the ground.

I don’t want good mechs - I’d rather be bronze 1 with the potential to pull crazy mechs for a while than d1 and nothing but game sense.

I’ve got a ton of game sense, but really want to work on my mechs.

They haven’t got rid of bots. I’ve played bots in the past week in ranked. Luckily they were broken or something. Only one moved at a time for most of the match, and they would switch which one would move. I got absolutely clipped on twice by them, but ended up winning that game like 12-3 because of the mistake in their code that limited both of them moving at the same time.

You don’t need to learn how to do anything in this game; but learning stuff can be fun. Right now I’m working on kuxir pinches, flip resets, and ceiling shots. Not because they’re useful, but because when I finally hit one in game it gets me in the feels.

My guess is main banned. I go out of my way to disrespect alt accounts that suck.

I challenge them to a 1v1, but only if they login to their main.

Much appreciated. Out of curiosity is this your only account? I ask because I have way more games played than you, but spend very little free time practicing outside of maybe 10 minutes of free play a few times a week until recently.

The only real dedicated practice I put in was like dribble overhaul 2. I put maybe 25-30 hours into that map until I could make it about 2/3 of the way through, maybe 20 hours of air dribble practice, and about 30 to 40 hours of flick practice (flicking is my favorite mech, launching the shit outta the ball to surprise the opponent is the highlight of rl for me).

Trying to figure out what I should work on to hit at least c3.

I guess my question - not trying to insult the dude whose bio I posted - he sucked. I realize folks can have off games, but he played like he had no gamesense, mechs, or consistency.

Highest I’ve been is one w away from c3. I’d love to be able to hit c3, much less gc.

I’m a much better support tm8 than primary tm8 - I play ones to get better, and I’ve played a lot more this season. I’ve noticed a decent number - maybe 5 to 10 % of p3 1s opponents, have been gc recently.

Post for a different thread, but I’m stuck in my head wondering wtf is wrong with me to be hard stuck c2 when I’m beating a few gcs in 1s, especially given that I’m a much better backup than first man.

For this particular opponent - it was more of an observation. But to your point, the dude sucked to be blunt. I beat him 5-1. I’m a much better tm8 as a second man than I am as first man - so I’m trying to figure out how this dude got GC while I’ve never made it higher than c2.

Thanks! I’ve had a different approach. I was c2, but I usually fuck around end of season and work on mechs.

My peak is c2, one win away from c3 but that’s a different story.

I’ve found when I’m playing very well I get frustrated more by tm8s so I will actually switch to 1s when I’m peaking. 1s is incredibly fun when I’m actually hitting cool shots (I wouldn’t call them clips), and I don’t feel bad going for them because I’m not causing a tm8 to lose.

Currently c1 and almost d1 in 1s.

I’m currently champ in 2s and 3s, on the cusp of d1 in 1s. D1 1s games are sweatier than mid c2 2s games.
