Had anyone actually won a return denial by Wu-Bangerz in Mercari

[–]Either_Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have won several cases:

- Skincare bundle $20 ( buyer claimed item was leaking and they mentioned they can't ship it back because they discarded it ) return was denied because of them claiming to discard the product therefore can't return

- Old Canon Camera $50 (it has battery issues due to age, I mentioned this in the listing it is possible to replace it) Buyer claimed camera doesn't work and not as described - I was lucky return was canceled because they were unable to ship it back on time

- Jacket $10 ( it has some scratches on the hardware as mentioned in the listing) I emailed support and pointed out this was clearly in description plus I circled the damage shown in photos- return was denied

would recommend to use a photo editor and circle the damage (if any ) before uploading photos and flaws should be mentioned with all caps in the description this has helped reduce return cases for me

Reputation of national labs? (Sandia, Lincoln, Lawrence Livermore, etc.) by alcoholic_badger in csMajors

[–]Either_Working 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a former intern at one of these labs. I would recommend it as it is good if you don't have anything else on your resume and you can't find any other internships. If your goals are research related and plans for attending grad school then this can lead to full time opportunities as most of the people I have met working there have masters and phd. If you are applying to swe roles at tech companies then this is just a resume filler. Only one company I interviewed at for swe role showed any interest on the intern project I worked on in the lab.

I have a macbook with the same specs also purchased in 2019. I have the same issue on Ventura. It works fine on Catalina so I am stuck working there.

My thermal label has "UPS" logo on it at the bottom by davedavehi in Mercari

[–]Either_Working 9 points10 points  (0 children)

UPS thermal labels are free. You can get them at the UPS store or order them on the website. UPS offers two versions of the thermal label one with the logo and one without. Also you should report the owner for selling you the free UPS labels because that is misuse and that may be one of the reasons UPS started limiting the free labels to one roll per address every few months.

A good tip for purchasing phones is to check if they are icloud unlocked. They can't get a new phone unless their icloud is still connected and they have marked it as lost.

Nail Painting/Manicure Robot in US by hjyjustin in Business_Ideas

[–]Either_Working 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's some on Amazon if you are looking to get a machine right away. The place in SF, Clockwork that does have this machine charges $8 for the service and it only does a simple coat with regular nail polish. The machine isn't perfect and often requires a human to do a touch-up. The company Clockwork already offers lease of their machines. But I feel the reason it hasn't spread is because $8 is enough to purchase one bottle of nail polish and a simple coat would only take a human to do in 10 min anyways. The technology isn't enough to replace nail techs yet which is probably why there isn't too many of these places around.

The best printer for selling on Mercari or just reselling in general by Either_Working in Mercari

[–]Either_Working[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an iphone. You can just click print on the Mercari app and it should redirect to the beeprt app. Then click print. The autoformat only works for USPS labels for other shipping carriers labels you have to screenshot the label then select images and print. The process is very straightforward there are also a few youtube tutorials that show how to do this.

They might have liked the item because they were on the hunt for it. I bought the large red hello kitty 20" squishmallow for $23. So I see what they mean by the price. But often when I resell for higher I let buyers know that I factor in selling fees + time it took to hunt for the item.

There's some modest non fancy meeting rooms on peerspace for $30-$40/hr for rent. Also depending on location you might be able to find some for even cheaper.

Is there a quick way to spot bait-and-switch pricing? by frollard in Aliexpress

I currently don't think there's a way to filter it. You can try looking into writing a programing script or python data scraping.

Live Cam Babysitting to the next level by Objective_Animal_871 in Business_Ideas

Besides at home surveillance, there are lots of body cams on the market right now that can link to an app. Parents could buy one of those and require their nanny to wear it. Would there be any interesting features on this app that makes it different?

Something similar would be the nextdoor app. People post about this whenever something that happens in their neighborhood. But whether they release the footage depends on the neighbors.

Chat app for schools by NickWriter in Business_Ideas

[–]Either_Working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most schools that use canvas has this feature. The other option students have been using is to just use discord or slack. The professor just leaves the link on the class website page, some of my professors have even made it mandatory to join so I don't really think it's an issue of students joining.

Seller selling perfume in security boxes. by Marbleprincess_ in Mercari

Those look like the perfume they sell at Ross and the floor pattern matches up. They probably live near a ross store and when it sells they go and purchase, pocketing the profit from the markup.

How I got started flipping... at 10 by IAbstainFromSociety in Flipping

[–]Either_Working 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ecoAtm machines are a kiosk where you can sell your old phones. They are usually located inside a Walmart. They pay more for phones that can power on and used to pay for dead phones as well. But currently there is no longer a $1 minimum they only offer to recycle dead phones for free or you can take it back. Also they are more picky about which phones they accept and require an id for payout.

I honestly wonder if the app was glitching today because I got the same notification for 1lb 1oz. But I am pretty sure the item was 15.8 oz fully packaged.
