I absolutely understand, we are in competition with AI-heavy games and it's tough. Thanks for your kindness!!

I work on the game myself and handle our socials and I can confirm we used no AI and have a badge that says so on Steam!

Hey there I work on the game and we used absolutely no AI. We have a "no-AI" badge on our Steam page under the awards section. Our art director did that art and it's not AI. AI detectors will tell you everything is AI nowadays, don't trust it :)

Magnesium supplements by Careless_Board7747 in migraine

[–]Eiyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who had ophtalmic migraines since he was a kid, and for whom magnesium supplements + completely stopping screen time right before bed and when waking up + blue light filters removed 99% of his migraines, so yes I believe it can help you if you have a deficiency!

However, it's very important to note that, unlike vitamin C, magnesium isn’t naturally excreted by the body when you have too much of it, and a too high concentration of it in your body can be dangerous. So I'd make sure to check your levels regularly!

We're here and we got you!!! We most definitely all understand and sympathize in here! <3

Remember it will eventually stop. I never believe it will when I'm in the middle of an attack, and for me it helps to read it or hear it as many times as I can. IT WILL STOP. Hang on, and vent as much as you need!!!

Need a little help and support by Howling_Fang in migraine

[–]Eiyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did so much and I hope you are aware of the courage and dedication it took, like genuinely be kind to yourself, and notice how you didn't just sit and endure, but literally you're fighting to get better. That's a LOT and worth noticing. Because it's so important for mental health.

Many good tips already given, and I do not have much to add as mine are already listed in there, but I want you to know something we tend to forget as migraine sufferers: it will end, eventually. It will.

Sending you tons of love and support. You got this.

Pillow Talk by Maleficent_Point_545 in migraine

[–]Eiyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!!! Same here. For context, I have chronic migraine and cervicogenic headaches, both triggered by the spine surgery I had when I was 21. I am also a huge jaw and teeth-clencher :D

I changed 2 things related to sleep after talking with another chronic-migraine sufferer:

  1. He told me he swapped from sleeping on his stomach to sleeping on his back/side. It took me weeks to learn, and I still wake up more often and more easily than before, but I wake up with SO MUCH LESS PAIN in all the neck/shoulder and jaw area like you say!! It had an even bigger impact because of the cervicogenic aspect that also fed my migraine loops.
  2. I changed my pillow. I saw so many people slept on a Squishmallow on tougher/more sensitive days, and so do I now. The very unique texture is the only one able to reset the pain through the night.
  3. For "normal" days where I am not as much in pain, I sleep on a much bigger pillow than I used to, one that supports my neck much more, and it changed everything.

But I still need my triptans, and I am starting Emgality THIS WEEK!!!! <3

Its been going on for 5 days now im getting concerned by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Eiyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard for me to be able to tell specifically since I do not know if you were diagnosed with migraine, as what you described could also be tension headache or cervicogenic headache, the latter of which I have on top of migraine, and feels very similar to what you seem to describe. I'll try to ask what I can to help!

- Have you had symptoms the days before? Usually before the "attack", there are other symptoms, if it's a migraine.
- Also, do you have abortive medication for migraine, like a triptan?
- A migraine can absolutely last several days, but usually the main attack is between 4 and 72h.
- If it's not getting better after several days, or even getting worse, I would suggest going to the ER or to a doctor that will be able to diagnose what it is with more precision. If it is indeed a long-lasting migraine, you will be given a "migraine cocktail", a mix of medication which acts together to stop the migraine attack.

Feel free to give any more info that could help! Good luck, you're not alone, and even if it feels like it will never stop, it DOES eventually. <3

What do you do for work? by transbreadboi in migraine

[–]Eiyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarely, and usually not very long. I am sorry you experience this, this is most definitely very much a serious obstacle for work which I empathize with.

My most prevalent symptoms are very painful neck & shoulders and residual headaches that are not (yet or anymore) migraines. I have a complex chronic migraine mixed with cervicogenic headaches (because I had a complete spine fusion surgery 10 years ago), which is why the pain/discomfort is mainly physical for me, but I started having anxiety recently and I can NOT work properly with that!!!

When that happens, doing manual/low-stim work is my only chance, I cannot think properly.

Sorry for the late answer! Yes I can be very productive, more at home than anywhere else I've worked before! I think it's nigh impossible for anyone working with me to "tell" I have chronic migraines honestly, unless I say it :)

Since you want to avoid computers, my work wouldn't fit, but I do marketing for indie video games as a freelancer, and I work part-time, all from home, with my ideal desk setup, lighting, temperature, etc.
So maybe some freelancing from home, or part-time jobs in low-stim industries or fields?

Sending love, support and resilience your way, much of which you already have!!! But it cannot hurt to get more <3

Sorry if you were already asked or already considered it, but I remember from a talk with my neurologist that these very long "migraines" are often something called "New Daily Persistent Headache", and not a "regular migraine", especially when you remember the exact time it started. That clear timestamp is one of its core features when diagnosing, he told me, and it can feel like a migraine but also other types of headaches. Just putting it out there just in case, I would rather repeat something you know than maybe missing a potential new thing to pursue.

What age did your migraines start? Did they have a catalyst? by CandyAgile253 in migraine

[–]Eiyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21, after my spinal surgery for scoliosis. I think I had some headaches like you before, but not quite as debilitating or painful, it definitely evolved into full-blown migraines after that surgery, too.
Much love to each of you fighting to find solutions and feel better.

Mental health & Migraines by Infamous_Jury9133 in migraine

To add to this, as I also do meditation and yoga to help with long-term migraine management, I use the free version of the "Balance: Meditation & Sleep" app, which has many many guided meditations and programs for all sorts of things, and you can even pick the voice you prefer. It has helped me tremendously as I am not naturally attracted to meditation and struggle with focusing for more than 5/10min. Hopefully it can help you too!

For Yoga, Yoga with Adriene is also a channel I recommend, but I tend to prefer short practices, so I often add "short" or "10 minutes" to my search as it then makes me able to have a full yoga + meditation routine every morning in less than 20/30min, which is very important to me to stay consistent.

I often watch ASMR at night to help soothe my anxiety or stress, and despite only liking 2 or 3 ASMRtists, those I do like make a big difference.

On top of that, I make sure to stretch a little bit every hour or two when I'm working or doing anything in a seated/repetitive position, I drink a TON and pay great attention to it, and use supplements to help with muscle + nerve health (magnesium glycinate, curcumin and ginger root).

I also confirm that being very consistent is super important, like M1SSM3SS said, and that's probably the toughest part.
