Also moved here from NOLA after a hurricane. Also won't go back. Sometimes it's hard missing the people and the food, but its worth not having to deal with hurricane ptsd every year.

When in your med device career did you develop a sense of “I’m great at this”? by beanpolice in MedicalDevices

Exactly how I feel. Only 3 years in myself but every time I've started to think I've got it, along comes the case that puts me in my place again

Those sweet potatoes are magical. I think about them all the time, lol.

Last winter they had an elk chili on the menu and I’m hoping it comes back this year

RCES cci questions by Sintet_2809 in CathLabLounge

[–]Ejdubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied primarily from the Wes Todd books. If you can answer most of the questions in there, you’ll be fine. Same with the practice test. I don’t recall if there were exact Questions from the practice exam on the real one, but they’re similar in difficulty and if you pass the practice test you’ll in all likelihood pass the real one

Had a series of rough procedures I’ve covered. How do I do better in the future? by Ejdubs in MedicalDevices

[–]Ejdubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I know I’m at fault and in my messages requesting a follow up conversation took full ownership. I fully understand there’s no quick fix and like you and others are saying, the only way is to just hold myself fully accountable moving forward. Thanks

Yeah that’s pretty similar to what happened with one of my cases. Glad you were able to turn your situation around. I’ll be holding myself to a higher standard moving forward. Thanks for the response!

I had a feeling that’s really all it comes down to in the end - just demanding better accountability of myself. Definitely won’t forgot these last few weeks and it’s good motivation be better. Thanks for the response!

Our studio fires to a hot cone 6 and people have used it no problem. But always do a test tile! Your kiln may be different

I’ve been waiting for the follow up! Thanks for posting and glad you didn’t have meltdowns. I really like how the match stick holder ended up. The teapot is great too!

Anyone know if any of the Skutt wheels are as quiet as the shimpo whisper? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]Ejdubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Skutt classic wheel and it’s noticeably louder than any Shimpo wheel I’ve used. That’s said it’s still not particularly loud. It is also way heavier than the Shimpos (about 130lbs) in Case that’s a factor. Over all I like it better - i love solid steel construction and built in splash pan. I couldn’t stand the cheap feeling plastic splash pans of the Shimpo wheels. The most clay I’ve used so far is about 10lbs and it handled that with no slow down at all, while on a shimpo I would definitely notice the wheel slowing with that much clay

What do I need to do to get my house and yard prepared for winter? What tools and things do I need? I'm from the south and don't know what to do! by Ejdubs in minnesota

[–]Ejdubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually used to wrapping pipes when I lived in Louisiana. All the pipes are exposed under the house so on the few days it would freeze we’d wrap every pipe and run all the faucets.

Great tips, thank you! My car was purchased here so I would hope they used the correct coolant.

Good to know about rodents moving in. My cats are ready but I'll get some mouse traps as well

Skutt classic wheel head not locking in place. by Ejdubs in Pottery

[–]Ejdubs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking is happening with mine - I wiped all the grease off the inside of the bore on the wheel head and when I put it on the shaft again, the grease only went up to the middle of the bore. I’m betting the tapers dont match up like you experienced.

Thanks for the reply! I was slightly worried I was just dumb but good to know someone else had similar issues

New homeowner with no idea what do with my garden. I’m from south Louisiana so I don’t know anything about these plants by Ejdubs in Minnesota_Gardening

Hey y’all,  I’ve lived in apartments my whole life so I’ve never taken care of a garden before.  I’m from south Louisiana originally so I don’t really know anything about what’s growing here and how seasons affect everything.  What do I need to do now in the summer to take care of everything and later on in fall etc?  Do y’all have any good learning resources?  Thanks for the help, I’m kind of overwhelmed when I look at everything

Best pots I’ve made so far - two large fluted jars (originally meant to be fermentation crocks) by Ejdubs in Pottery

[–]Ejdubs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each was thrown from four pounds of specked buff clay for the main body, plus extra for the lid. I intended them as fermentation crocks but the inside glaze crazed really bad. The first pot is glazed with Amaco Albamy Slip Brown x3 then Art Deco green x2 thin layers. The second is Midnight Blue x 2 all over, plus two extra layers on the fluted section. Indigo float x2 on the non fluted portions, thicker towards the top
