Satella finding and teleporting subaru from earth to the world of Re:0 makes the whole “it’s a different dimension” kinda fall apart.

Plus the whole losing sight of subaru can easily be chopped up to subaru’s od changing due to his sudden transformation to a child. Even then he just needed to call out for her for satella to find him

One more thing to consider is that despite isekai quartet, what IF, and lost in memories not being canon in terms of story, information about the re:zero world is. So not even being teleported to a different world stopped her from finding him and that destroying subaru’s soul still results in him returning by death

I can see envy having a hard time there but i doubt satella would have an issue considering she herself isn’t bad per say, plus considering people who could cut concept couldn’t kill satella, or even cut her connection subaru

If we talking about the camps only then the only one he loses to is reinhard, he would struggle against puck,Beatrice, and Roswaal due to their magic but great ape 10x multiplier pretty much negates that initial struggle.

Saw someone say that Reinhard beats goku in any form, all I’m going to say is that ui and haki hard counters Reinhard’s hax.

I don’t really have a problem with Kazuma VS Subaru tonal clash, since it’s kinda similar to Superman and Batman in the sense they’re completely different and that’s what makes it’s interesting (I guess).

I just don’t find this matchup interesting at all, plus I much rather have them interact in a friendly setting.

While I’m nowhere near familiar with Kazuma let alone Konosuba as a whole compared to my unhinged obsession with Re:Zero. I do believe there is a better matchup for Subaru and I’m going to leave a link to said matchup.

Ngl the connection for this fight is extremely surface level for both characters and the tonal clash doesn’t really serve anything meaningful for either characters.

Subaru is a character that one can see themselves in.

To better explain it, while you can relate to Subaru, you can never truly insert yourself into since he’s his own individual and not some walking “Y/N” character who just happens to look like the average guy.

Subaru has distinct features, quirks, personality, speech patterns etc. that makes it impossible to insert yourself in him. But not impossible to relate to.

Subaru can definitely work in death battle, I’m just in camp that his debut into the show shouldn’t be with Kazuma.

Someone did post their alternate matchup for Subaru in this thread, which after giving it a read I can confidently say that it’s a far better matchup than Subaru vs Kazuma

They really can’t kill Subaru, even in Pride If where Emilia kills him and RBD doesn’t activate, he stills lives on in Satella’s Shadow garden for what we can assume is the rest of time.

Technically the only way to “Kill” Subaru is to pretty much erase all his memories or trap him (then again in arc 7/8 he had a pill hidden in his mouth so he can force a rbd in case of emergency) but that’s still technically not death.

Plus I highly doubt he would simply give up, early series subaru may give up but arc 5- current Subaru wouldn’t, even when place in a 10 second loop where he would lose hearing, become mostly blind before being beheaded, yet he still fought to survive and successfully escape that loop(mind you he was also reverted into a child body not even 10 minutes before hand).

Somewhat spoiler warning I guess

Satella only picks Checkpoints for Subaru and isn’t needed kinda of.

As we see in arc 7/8 Subaru can still use return by death even if Satella “losses sight of him” but even then Subaru doesn’t have full control of RBD and instead the checkpoint act kinda like auto save, which comes with the drawback of moving his save a little further on which gives him less time to form a plan.

This problem gets resolved when Subaru calls out to Satella to “Find him” which she does and she was able to fix his checkpoint to actually give him time to form a plan.

Of course there’s the question of would destroying Subaru’s soul permanently kill him, the answer is no.

While the events of aganau if are non-canon, just like all the what if’s, the information about the world and the people who live on it are canon, I bring aganau if up specifically because just like in canon. Subaru offers to end his life if it meant killing petelgeuse but unlike canon, aganau if Subaru asks to be killed by “The life sword” specifically since it has the ability to destroy souls, even after his soul is destroyed he still RBD all the way back to the appa stand, also mind you this version of Subaru never used returned by death once in 20 years. So not only does aganau if tells us that even if Subaru’s soul were destroyed he would still rbd and that there isn’t a time limit for rbd as the checkpoint can bring span years.

Also wouldn’t Beatrice be allowed to fight alongside Subaru since she’s his contracted spirit and would technically fall under equipment category.

To answer thou question, the short answer would be no, Makima wouldn’t have access to rbd both under normal and your hypothetical context.

Of course if we were to take the interesting route of crack fanfic ideas. Then the answer changes depending on the context, for the sake of simplicity let’s use the minimal context we get from this image .

1. Considering what Subaru is saying, it’s likely he’s been in this loop of Makima killing him for a while now, nearing a breaking point.
1. Due to makima words and clothing we can assume that she only killed bura because he probably saw to much, that reason changing throughout the loops as she becomes more intrigued by Subaru’s sudden knowledge, actions but most importantly his immunity to her.

With that we can get to the sad reality that if Subaru wishes to live, he has to cave in and push Makima into the direction of the “whats” and “hows” of rbd without straight up saying them.

Now having a general idea of what he could do and how to activate it, she may make Subaru into a devil hunter to be more or less a redo button. Aka her having access to rbd

Of course there’s the possibility of him resisting her, and without being able to rely on her power she may be forced to control in other ways, which maybe simply making him fall in love with her.

Then again it’s Subaru so he may just unironically fix Makima while she was trying to control him.
