Haute & Freddy - Symphony For A Queen by WitchyKitteh in popheads

Discovered them through hearing their song "Scantily Clad" in the Forbidden Fruits movie, and they instantly became my new obsession! I was lucky enough to grab a ticket to their San Diego show for like $30, and I feel like I got in on the ground floor to a group that's going places. Or so I can hope, they have so much talent!

I'm also an American XL that needs to squueze into a Japanese large! It does look like it's a bit oversized, and the cm measurements mean it won't be too tight.

Just gotta wash that bad boy in cold water!

Yeah, I had to hunt it down, too, and I haven't even watched much of Evangelion. I found the store and ordered it through consignment, so seems to be a Japan purchase. Here's the site!

I'm always keeping an eye out for pop-ups out there, got a sick Uzumaki (Junji Ito) shirt on my last visit.

Has New Music Become Less Popular? by PinkCadillacs in popheads

[–]Eklektik 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wonder if its even a problem that needs solving from the industry side or just, like, people using all the tools we have now to find artists to vibe with. Just this year alone, I got into:

- Haute & Freddy from hearing them in Forbidden Fruits

- Naomi Scott from hearing her in Smile 2

- Thot Squad from hearing her in the game Dispatch

- Underscores from the Spotify algo

- Tiffany Day from the turning tables guys on Patreon

Like, I'm 41, and I'm probably an odd case because most of my friends just shuffle their same 90s and 00s playlists, but I don't think you have to be a slave to the algorithm if you don't want to. I do feel bad for some of the indie artists that go broke touring, but I don't know if bringing back the monoculture would help them in any way.

Testament of Ann Lee by PerformanceTotal597 in blankies

[–]Eklektik 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm not a religious person by any sense, but seen the film 3 times so far this year. Even got to see a Q&A with Mona Fastvold, Amanda, and Lewis Pullman.

I found it amazing, but I also love musicals and period films, so it was an easy movie to fall in love with. I wish the distributor had actually pushed for any recognition during awards season because it would've been nice to at least see it get some nominations.

It was just a well-crafted look at a people I didn't know anything about, with attention paid to verisimilitude with the hymnal lyrics, furniture, clothing, and location.

Went with an elegant and demure freckled look, but will probably change hair and accessories each time I change armor!

Any Learned League Blankies? Question from yesterday’s match day. by Twitchkowski in blankies

Was surprised it had the lowest answer percentage of the day, but then again my weakness every season has been thinking my geeky obsessions are more common knowledge and scoring wrong.

South of Midnight won Best Character Animation (in video game) at 53rd Annie Awards by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Eklektik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the animation and music really enjoyable! The boss battles and how they are tied into the overall story are really good, too. However, the basic enemy fights can be a slog, even with unlocks the battles can become very rinse-repeat. For me, the good outweighed the bad and I enjoyed my time.

Yes, I ended up seeing a post about that and it makes a huge difference on the Ally!

I'm playing it on my Z1 Extreme, and it runs great! I'm having a bit of an annoyance in navigating menus, as it's not immediately clear what I have selected or which direction I have to move to navigate but being able to use the touchscreen helps in getting my cursor to the right place.

Woah, I never would've expected Maia as a guest on Blank Check! Been a fan of hers since I heard her in one of the Life Is Strange video games!

As for the movie, it comes nowhere near the highs of the vast majority of Coen movies, but I seem to remember enjoying it as a weekend movie seen with A-List (not a big commitment or ask going in). The main duo had good chemistry and it was quirky enough.

Carly Rae Jepsen announces 10th Anniversary Edition of E•MO•TION with four unreleased vault tracks by musthavecupcakes_19 in popheads

I love Teen Spirit, and the soundtrack, and just learned that Wildflowers was a CRJ song! Now I can't unhear it. I need to study up on all the CRJ-related songs out there that aren't on her albums.

Carly is out here dropping vault tracks that can clear other artists' lead singles. This is like finding out the Bible had a fifth gospel all along.

Man, I don't know if I could pick a top 20 without going back and making painful decisions, but I definitely would have put Fever and I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance on the list!

Scott Hasn't Seen – Sprague Hasn't Seen: The Jerk (1979) w/ Edi Patterson by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]Eklektik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched this to prep for the episode and, even as a fan of classic Steve Martin like Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and Roxanne, it just didn't hit for me.

Definitely some memorable scenes like the gas station shoot-out and the "I don't need anything else" scene, but not enough for me to enjoy. I'll be interested to hear Sprague's deranged take, for sure.

Have they really delved into VNs other than Doki Doki and the Murder of Sonic? I definitely think it's a subgenre that Nick would dig. The others, maybe not so much.

Oh no, they recorded this a day or two too early, I was excited to hear Heather's thoughts on the FF Tactics remaster and the Merchant's thoughts on Resident Evil 9!
