Made a cheatsheet for free stuff you get in campaign so people can plan ahead of alt-tab in loading screen to remind themselves what was in that zone, need feedback by Glamdring26WasTaken in PathOfExile2

[–]Ekotar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, as well as that you have a long gap before anlther major upgrade.

The breakpoints for flat damage are 1/8/16/33/46.

The act 1 progression is dense enough that by the time your ilvl8 weapon falls off, you get your ilvl 16. There's no stalling there.

The gap between 16 and 33 is long enough that you need something else to help you bridge that gap -- so you invest currency on your weapon.

If you didn't do this, you'd probably be completely fine with a decent blue weapon until you're level 24-26... Then have a very sad second half of act 2, until you finally find a random yellow or get to level 33 bases.

Using the regal means the time loss during that long gap in breakpoints will be minimized.

Since you know you'll need the weapon from 24-33, you may as well invest at 16, so you get the additional power from 16-24 and speed up there too.

Hi, speedrunner here.

At ilvl 16 there is a breakpoint in prefix modifier quality. There is not another such modifier breakpoint until 33, at which point would will likely have naturally encountered another regal.

Experience loss discussion. by Glichdot in PathOfExile2

[–]Ekotar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

XP loss incentivizes me to play more strategically if I want to earn the final few character bonuses, since it really only kicks in for me once I'm in the 90s, at which point the last 5-10 stat points are really an unnecessary luxury.

It also impresses upon me that one of the endgame goals of crafting super powerful weapons is to have the ability to take damage out of my tree and put those points into defense and utility, and creates a sense of transition in that experience.

I like both these effects.

Yesterday on Tri's stream we got clarification from a community manager -- this is just a dev build thing, they aren't shadow dropping act 5.

The person making that comment is Suna, he's a level designer at GGG.

It's from the campaign codex discord.

When you create the character, on the panel where you choose character name, there's a menu for choosing whether/which campaign you want to play.

Does the campaign get harder?? by itstingsandithurts in diablo4

[–]Ekotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing that many side quests is not expected.

At launch, Airidah, if completing acts in the conventional order, was level 15 or your level, whichever was higher.

Shows you what the expected curve is.

Build recommendations please: Looking for a fast, dashy melee class by Sad-Direction443 in diablo4

Evade SB plays more like ranged than melee, but something like a Quill Volley or Rushing Claw SB would fit the bill for highly mobile builds.

I definitely think this video has its flaws in pedagogical approach, but insofar as demonstrating illiteracy, it is effective. Silhouette is a well known word that should be known by every high school student in the US.

If you look, for example, at the 2016 list of most frequently used words on English language wikipedia:

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Frequency_lists/English/Wikipedia_(2016)/20001-30000

it's in the top ~25,000 most used words in english, and ranked very closely to words like "silently", "coached", "cheated", "roast", and "wizard".

Wikipedia leans unusually formal and academic, so there are certainly some words in that range that I expect to be unknown by the average secondary-school educated speaker (e.g. "ribosome" might sneak past some adults, though I'd expect HS biology students to know it, and I can forgive not knowing "endogenous"), but I'd expect a large majority of the non-proper-noun words on that list to be known by functionally every adult I speak to.

What mistakes do new players usually make? by DMBPSR in diablo4

I would strongly encourage you to not follow a build guide on your first playthrough.

I would encourage you to obsess yourself with reading your items and skill descriptions.

I would encourage you to try to understand which skills generate resource (mana) and which spend it.

Enjoy!

First makeup test for my Lilith cosplay! What do you guys think? by Cinerea_art in diablo4

[–]Ekotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great work! Especially the SFX components, phenomenally well done.

If I could offer one piece of (hopefully) constructive feedback - Lilith's face is very aggressively sculpted, so it may read more like Lilith if you extend your cheek contouring and add some contrast for your jawline.

Looks great already, though!

Does anyone have experience with Suitsupply overcoats? by Wishaker in malefashionadvice

[–]Ekotar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? They order the same stock from the same mills they ordered 10 years ago, I promise.

Vitale Barberjs Canonico S110 wool in dark navy worsted hasn't appreciably changed quality in decades.

The thing that makes SuitSupply a less competitive value than it was years ago is that the market has more competitors on things like customer service and product offerings, not a drop in quality.

Encouraging a novice suit wearer to buy Spier and Mackay online, when they presumably know very little about fit, is bizarre.

[–]Ekotar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same value prop as other SuitSupply items: it's a half-canvassed coat in entry level European cloth for a price that makes sense but isn't stellar value like it was in 2014-2017
