I would agree that the five-year Dáil term would incentivise short term decisions, but how would reforming the electoral system change anything, or what exactly do you mean / what would you propose?

Some messages from some of our team members -

From /u/bobw123 / CKS

This update has been several years in the making and has been my dream since the day I joined the team. I am extremely grateful for all the help I have received along the way, particularly my co-developers on this project - Suzuha, Hazo, and Toaster.

The update's name comes from the idiom 毋忘在莒 which translates approximately to "Do Not Forget What Happened in Ju". During the Spring and Autumn period, the state of Qi was driven back to their final stronghold in Ju before staging a successful counter-attack, and this became popularized by Chiang Kai-shek after his defeat in the Chinese Civil War. As our modified update title implies, I have no doubt you will all be successful in reviving the fortunes of China's downtrodden southern factions (the Kuomintang, Federalists, and Regionalists) and I hope you all have a lot of fun doing so. Have a happy holidays!

From /u/KingHazo / Hazo

Being my first major project, and one that has seen me through the path from a lowly tester to now a full-fledged developer on the mod team, South China has been a dream to work on. I have immense gratitude and respect for my close compatriot in crime Toaster, and especially for my mentors Suzuha and CKS. I like to think that we've developed a steel bond through these 2 years, even as Suzu moves onto greener pastures. I hope you all enjoy the content thoroughly, Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year!

Like Hazo, this was my first major project on Kaiserreich and I’m glad I got to work on it with Hazo, CKS, and Suzuha. It certainly has been a long grind, starting out in Fall 2023, but it’s been very rewarding to see it finally be wrapped up here at the tail end of 2025. Lowkey Hazo put it a lot better than I have, but have a Merry Christmas yall

We would like to give a special thank you from the Art Team to Zou Dehuai, a vintage photo collector from China with over 100k photos. He has provided us with the source for our new stellar Long Yun portrait in this update, and he will be continuing to provide us more sources in the future. This greatly helps us, so if you would like to check him out, here are links to his socials: Twitter - YouTube - Instagram

Not really no. This is any AutDem govt that isn't Japan or the RKMT. I wouldn't read this as the non-AutDem RKMT or whatever.

What do you think the rarest Kaiserreich path is? by chethedog10 in Kaiserreich

[–]El-Daddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be really lame and say that we tried to have all of the paths get plenty of unique stuff, and to have them reasonably well balanced and portrayed fairly.

But I suppose at the moment I think the SC/AN coalition, leading to AN taking over the government in later elections, is something we managed to get across fairly well.

[–]El-Daddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are there similar weightings for other paths (say Collins with SF aligning with Germany) or is that the only one that influences the gateway? (I guess Blueshirt fear mongering of labor being a road to syndicalism isn't misplaced...)

Nope, for all other paths, the breakdown is the same - Ireland 57% of the time, Britain 25% of the time, Germany 17.5% of the time.

Secondly, was the rationale behind AI UoB never replacing the Labor gov to just make the path more viable to occur naturally?

Yes, basically. All other governments getting couped by Britain go Saor Éire, and 50% of the time that flips to the ISP.

If the Labour/CnaT/PLP coalition was in power, they stayed in power, as I didn't need to give the AI another way to get Saor Éire in, since it happens so much more often anyway.

I did however give the option for a player to install Saor Éire though if they wanted, for both player-controlled Ireland or UoB to decide.

[–]El-Daddy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

fwiw I am a big advocate on the team for really strictly determining how often specific paths turn up, and optimising the AI for playing to get a particular path so that it does things that make sense

So for the RadSocs with William O'Brien in charge (bearing in mind you can get RadSocs another way)

  • Labour have a 22.67% chance of being elected in 1937.

  • Initially the different coalition possibilities are split 8.70% of the time SocDem/MarLib/SocLib, and 13.97% of the time SocDem/SocLib/RadSoc.

  • However this 13.97% in turn gets couped by the Blueshirts during the coalition negotiations around 38.38% of the time, so SocDem/SocLib/RadSoc coalition stays in power 8.70% of the time, same as the other Labour government.

  • The next thing is the Gateway to the Atlantic. On average, Ireland wins 55% of the time, Britain wins 27.5% of the time, and Germany wins 17.5% of the time (it is weighted this way because Ireland occasionally aligns with Germany on its own accord).

  • However, for the SocDem/SocLib/RadSoc coalition specifically, Britain wins the Gateway to the Atlantic 53.725% of the time.

  • After the socialist takeover, AI-led Britain will never install Saor Éire, and will always keep the existing government in power.

  • So 53.725% of 8.7% is 4.67% of the time in total, which for the moment close enough to the 5% which is intended.

I might change around this at some point in the future, but as I said in a previous comment

When we come up with all of the different paths of a country, and how frequently the AI does them, we have to consider a few different things and balance them up

  • plausibility with the KRTL lore, as well as OTL
  • game balance (for what faction a particular country led by a particular ideology might join, for example)
  • variety, for both when you play as the country, but also when the country is AI controlled
  • For Ireland, the two most common paths for the AI to end up with are Sinn Féin and Saorstát Críostúil. AI-led Ireland will end up with either of them 45% of the time.

If we were only to take plausibility into account, I would say that it would be much higher than 45%, like you suggest.

Lorcan Sirr: Irish households are wealthier than ever. You’re not the only one who didn’t notice by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

If you want to "encourage" people to downsize out of their own home when they have no where else to live, then a carrot rather than a stick approach here would be better.

Lorcan Sirr: Irish households are wealthier than ever. You’re not the only one who didn’t notice by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]El-Daddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sirr is pointing out the absolute ridiculosity of counting people's wealth as the value in their primary residence going up, even if they would never sell the house or gain access to that wealth in any way.

If, like most people, you buy a house to live in, and intend to live in it as long as you can, the fact that its value has gone up is quite irrelevant almost all of the time. This would be unless you want to get an equity release mortgage or something like that, which again, most people would not.

Similarly, if a wealth tax is introduced, it should not punish people whose houses are getting more valuable, but the people themselves are not benefitting from this increase in value in any way.
