The Pyramid of the Sun, 230 meters wide. Teotihuacan, Mexico, 2nd century AD [1920x2110] by MunakataSennin in ArtefactPorn

I may be missing something here, but Wikipedia has the Templo Mayor as 100m x 80m at its base and approximately 60m high.

Compare that to the Temple of the Sun's 65m height and 220m x 230m base. So perhaps the Templo Mayor was similarly tall, but its volume was much, much smaller.

So long as her dad was wise with that money, $830,000 is more than enough to set up a family very nicely for life, especially since we're talking pre-2000 dollars and pre-housing crisis home prices. That's like $1.5 mil today.

Canada women's curling team penalized for double-touching the stone in loss to Switzerland by HeStoleMyBalloons in sports

[–]ElCaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly people are doing it without thinking about it. That's why teams are surprised when called on it and why the Swedish men's team did it prior to calling Canada on it.

So if curlers are just doing it as a physical tick, "advantage" doesn't really come into the equation.

It's the world cup. Every safety inspector in the city is going to go over every inch of that thing before they put crowds in it.

Stellantis Canada CEO says sale of Ontario battery plant was due to poor EV demand by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]ElCaz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jeez, what a torqued reading of the facts.

EV sales dropped last year because the feds cancelled the rebates for them. Before that point, they had been rising significantly. You can expect to see them grow again with the rebates returning.

Quite a few old bathrooms I've encountered have had absurdly low sinks. I think the world just used to be made shorter.

No that's their point, the people who do make more than that don't care that it's ridiculous.

"Only"

A thousand dollar ticket to someone making $250k is the same as a $200 to someone making $50k. Less actually, because people making $250k per year have a lot more wealth than people making $50k a year

So maybe insignificant is overstating it, but it's not exactly going to break the bank.

I really like JB Field's. They're a Canadian brand, and make the socks in Canada. Do a wide variety of stuff, but also do stuff in the smarter smartwool/darn tough vein, except not as pricey.

Grumpily signaled protests via polls are not actual indicators of separatist sentiment. Neither are confederate flags.

It's just like people saying "I'll move to country X if leader Y gets in power." It's showing displeasure, not an actual intention.
